C63 Full Carbon Roof Group Buy
sure it's not a huge amount but every bit helps for those looking for that extra edge...or bling factor.

The pano roof is 75lbs in whole and you will likely be adding 15-25lbs to replace it
This is a mod you do to polish the build as it will likely add nothing but a 1% reduction in weight and cost thousands to buy and convert
If you don’t like it that’s fine. Nobody is forcing you to get one.
And yeah, I’ve seen Jaeson’s post (freefall). I’ve also seen others say it weighs everything from 120 to 180. I don’t care, it’s weight that can be eliminated and that’s good enough for me.

Apso not sure how you could have taken 500lbs out of your coupe already and still have the roof..... did you remove your passenger seat and heater/ac box, both mufflers?
Also removing weight won’t give you 12whp. It will change the power to weight ratio of the car but that’s not the same as adding HP.
If you are going to try and sell something try and be honest, with yourself and with others. Maybe it’s time you put the football down

The coupe pano weighs *at least* 100lbs including motors tracks glass etc.
Taking that weight off of the absolute highest point on the car will have dramatic effects on handling.
(and anybody considering this has likely already reduced unsprung and rotational weight. besides, these offers don’t ever come along, so people can be excused for skipping your “proper” order…
)

Yes I have over 400lbs taken out of my coupe. Just look around your interior (seats, airbags, trim, seatbelts, etc), bumper supports, heat shields, lighter mufflers, light wheels, etc etc it all adds up. And mine was 3909 on a calibrated corner balance scale too.
Don’t care what you do with your car. *** off I’ll do whatever I want with mine.
At last count of coupes we had:
@BLKROKT (x2)
@MBNRG
@Arjy
@rondeezy
@CF slk55
@Diamondwhite63
@12C63
That’s 8 roofs. Any more coupes I’m missing? @ParC63 @BocaExotic are you guys sedan or coupes?
SRG, if we get to ten coupes would that be enough to get this rolling? Maybe people could send you $500 non-refundable deposits to show that this time it’s serious?

Of these people, the following seem to be really into the story:

The problem is that at that time I had already asked for concrete offers for the roof. Also quotes for shipping by ship to the USA. But when no one really got back to me from some of those who showed interest, the project fell asleep.
The manufacturer of the roof was also a bit ****ed up because he had invested time and effort and in the end nothing came of it and he therefore earned no money. So I don't want to ask again without putting some money on the table to show real interest.
I also don't know how the prices have changed, as the price of raw materials has risen extremely in all areas recently. Of course I try to get the best out of it, but I don't want to ask a second time if nothing comes of it.
Then I can't give an exact time limit. The whole thing can also take 2-4 months. The roof will be unique and once the mould is built, you can always order more. But at a much higher price.
The most expensive thing is really the mould and I have to provide the company with an original roof, which is no longer usable afterwards.
I'd like to do something like that, but 10 roofs are quite a lot and finding 10 people who are willing to pay something in advance and don't know exactly what the whole thing costs is difficult, of course.

I'm still working on some things concerning the carbon doors, but it won't be cheap.
However, I have gotten in touch with a manufacturer for carbon parts and want to have a carbon roof made.
The whole thing would cost 1699$. The quality is perfect (production in Germany).
If several people decide to join me, the whole thing will be cheaper. I have to provide the manufacturer with a new roof and order it from Mercedes. The mould will be made from it.
For now, this is only planned for the sedan. However, if there are several interested persons, the roof for a coupe could also be produced.
Here is a picture from the manufacturer of a roof for a BMW:
How did you guys go with this? Did they ever make one for the C63S Coupe? I'd like to buy one. Would you have the details of where I can get it from. I'm prepared to pay the full price by going in alone, but also happy to be a part of group order is anyone else is interested in jumping onboard.
