2013 C63 AMG UPD Intake Issues (Please Help)

2013 C63 AMG UPD Intake Issues (Please Help)

I tried to make contact with UPD, but have not gotten a response and don't want to badger anyone. I did my UPD Intake install last night and had some issues. The height of the airboxes with the spacers installed makes it impossible to install them back into the y-pipe. I tried to make it work, but looked like something was going to break so I did the next logical thing... I unclipped the y-pipe from the back of the intake manifold and continued the install. Once I had it all back together I tried to push the y-pipe back onto the intake manifold but the gap is too large to bridge even with 200lbs of force pushing down on it, and I felt again like I was about to break. I got it down as far as I could which tilts the front of the airboxes up and that was the best I could get. I started the car up and went for a drive, but within a minute or two I had lights on the dash and I was in limp mode. I pulled over, shut the car off, and restarted it. It was drive-able but had a sloppy idle. I got back home and it was late so I figured I would deal with it after work today, but when I went to start the car this morning it just stalls. I popped the hood and pushed down hard on the y-pipe again, and that stopped the stalling issue, but still goes into limp mode after a short drive. Has anyone else had this issue?

You will make more power with the intake lid spacers in the trash.

Just use duct tape to seal the Y. He ^ doesn’t know what he’s talking about. More magic spacers > less magic spacers > no magic spacers

Make sure you add two of those, one on each side, They will take the spacers to the next level.

You have a leak. Look
at your Rpms at idle. Just take off those dumb spacers. Problem solved.

Just remove the spacers. They don't do anything, except cause problems.
I doubt you will get a refund from UPD, but you can ask.

I took them off, and all is well again, the car is running great. Before I bought them I googled it and the first thing that came up was a thread with positive dyno results and 35whp. Now that I have to return them all I hear is how terrible they are. And for the record nobody has called me back or replied to me in any way from UPD, but everyone else was quick to help. The vendor ECS Tuning was prompt to help and told me these are trash and they will no longer offer these, Eurocharged told me these are trash and they no longer offer them, and the internet as a whole has giving me the riot act. This has been a disappointing experience for what was believed to be a quality product. UPD is not the company I thought they were.

Did you guys know you can lose upto 25hp if you have to much oil in the car?

Yup. I run about a quart low on track. Helps to prevent foaming too.

If tracked along its worth it. I guess at high rpms the oil just flops and has serious air in it and smacks the crank and pistons.

Saw it on engine masters lol.

Tires are too skinny to generate much for G's anyway, even in the SLS the dry sump wasn't for oil starvation at high G loads, it was to get rid of the oil pan so they could fit the engine lower for better weight distribution and so you could close the hood!

Impossible. I might as well save up for an SLS BS.

I thought about putting in an Accusump, but oil starvation is just not a thing on the M156.

Love those guys but that wasn't an M156 though.

Sure, aerated oil is bad but an oil sump sucking air is much worse. That's a non issue with the pan design on this car.
