Injector Replacement

Hi,
I am looking at buying a 2010 C63 (M156 Engine) with 95k on the clock and would like to replace injectors. Can anyone please tell me if I replace them do I need to code them to the car? I have an Autel 906ts diagnostic scanner if needs be. Can I use the ones from FCP Euro?
Thanks

Cheers
Roy

Bought mine from FCP Euro and was easy to install, takes about 30 minutes or so. No coding necessary unless you increase injector size.

Also search the forum you don't need the overpriced AMG branded injectors, their are a few threads on it here on the forum, but you can get the Bosch injectors in the $25-30 range each and they work like a top, had mine in for 1.5 years.

I used the Bosch ones from FCP euro last year and they were easy to replace.

FCP euro has them for 161 shipped for all 8 injectors new.

EDIT:

I've recently bought a 2010 C63 which I'm pretty sure is stock. Currently sitting at 41k miles.

Despite the low mileage, I'm thiking about replacing the injectors & spark plugs for peace of mind, due to their age. Do you guys think this is overkill?

I want to tune it and think swapping injectors first would be a good idea. Not sure if I should push 10 year old injectors further with a tune.

I just replaced the injectors on my '10 (with 55k miles). Nothing wrong with them but I felt it was time and I wanted to avoid any of them sticking open. Idle smoothed out and I feel like the car woke up a little bit. For the price, it's good peace of mind that they are clean.

While you are in there you might as well replace the spark plugs as well. I did both at the same time with similar mileage.

If you are going to tune it, worth doing injectors and plugs, I would do them even if you weren't tuning just as a maintenance item. Depending how much coin you want to spend, some new coil packs wouldnt hurt while you are there. Make sure you have some detailing Q-tips handy when changing injectors, the bores will be filthy and worth the time to very carefully clean them out. Don't drop one in there though

Makes sense! Im going to keep an eye out for another sale on injectors, hopefully we'll see something to that effect by Black Friday!

FCPEuro had them for about 21 usd each recently but I missed out as I hadnt bought the car yet and did not want to jump the gun. Now they're 50% more expensive!

I'll be patient and wait for another sale. Definitely want to get this + sparks out of the way before I mess with tuning. Will also look into coils.

Coming from a string of 4 cylinder turbos, having to buy eveything x8 makes thing expensive! Haha.

Is there a special tool needed to replace the fuel injectors? Like a removal tool?

like a t30 torx I think it is to remove the bolts that hold it down and pliers or a screwdriver to pop out the retaining clip - nothing special at all!

A plastic water bottle to catch the fuel from the line, easier to remove the line with the rail rather than removing the rail entirely from the line.

I just bought a 2010 C63 with 110k miles on it a little over a year ago as a project car to get me through pharmacy school, I don’t know if money is an issue for you or not, however on the broke college student mindset I would rather change the part now and not have to deal with the problems a malfunctioning part would later on down the line, however I would think there’s at the very least a strong 75% chance you’ll be fine until 50k miles, then I’d just switch them anyway just to be safe, but that’s just me.

One thing to be aware of that I learned from experience when changing mine - The magnesium the intake manifold is made of gets brittle over time, and it is very easy to strip the threads where the fuel rail bolts down into the manifold. I ended up having to helicoil one of the holes on my car. I will probably just end up doing all of them so I know they are good and they match.

You are 100% correct on that, the intake can literally turn to dust at those 4 mounting points, i have seen this happen now several times. Someone needs to start mass producing intake manifolds for m156 because they will all be shot soon haha

Its going to be cheaper to supercharge than it will be to replace the manifold here in a few years
