Lightweight battery and lightweight bucket seats

Hi everyone .

sorry if this has been covered before I have had a quick look and can’t find a definite answer , I’m looking for some weight saving options and the first one im going for is a lightweight battery , I want something that is reliable for a daily driver and won’t cause any problems , could anyone tell me which one I would need from this list

https://braillebattery.com/collections/lightweight-agm

the other thing what I am leaning towards if light weight seats in the front , I am presuming I will need new rails for these, has anyone put different seats in the front in a saloon/sedan ,

thanks !

Weight savings are a great thing to focus on - losing 500lbs has changed my car drastically.

Lithium iron batteries are different in how CCA and amp hour capacity are calculated, so be aware of that. I just buy the highest performing battery available as our big V8’s and heavy accessory draw demand it. They also charge differently, only charging if blasted by full voltage constantly, so you’ll need to disable Alternator Management if you have it (small plug on negative terminal).

For what it’s worth, I’m selling a beautiful barely used VoltPhreaks battery for about half price here: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...ml#post8023309

For the front seats, yes you will need new brackets. You’ll need to pay attention to the seat shoulder spacing more than anything as the B-pillar placement makes many seats incompatible. I have Sparco Evo II’s and they fit with about an inch to spare on my coupe, sedan may be different but I’ve seen them fit. Seat height won’t be an issue as aftermarket buckets position you lower to begin with.

As it so happens, I also have Weistec C63 seat brackets for racing seats in that same thread. Ready to go, they came out of a C63 sedan. I never used them, went with heavier Sparco sliders on Planted brackets instead.

Let me know if you’re interested and good luck.

I would of grabbed all of this off you if I lived in the states. I got absolutely bum raped by import tax last time I bought stuff from America .

So will I be looking to buy this battery , I won’t need to check alternator management with this battery or will I ? (just don’t want nothing to go wrong with the car)

I like the brackets , how much are you selling these for? Will any seat mate to them or just certain brands ? Thanks

When you put the seats in aswell, what did you do with the air bag light that comes on the dash?

Totally understood. The Braille cranking specs look good, a little heavy and reserve ah are a little low. Braille batteries have been discussed extensively here, try a search or these threads.

Have the Weistec seat brackets for $300 and VoltPhreaks (which is a far superior LiFe design with low-voltage shutoff and weighs only 7lbs) for $600. Would do both for $750 + shipping as a gift of “dirty used auto parts” - I lived in London for years, I know how it goes.

Any seat from the major manufacturers will mount to them, bolt spacing is standardized.

I ignore the airbag light. Can’t be programmed out, and I didn’t feel like figuring out the correct resistor to plug in to fool the system.

Look into Antigravity batteries as well. The one im picking up for my 911 weighs 10lbs and will never need a trickle charger.
