Drag Radials - Lowered Suspension

Good morning Gents,

First off I've searched threads dating back to 2010, but I'm hoping experienced members can chime in with relevant first hand experience.

This up coming spring I plan on tracking my car and have picked up a set of 275/40/17 MT ET Streets, to be mounted on 17" OEM wheels. Having said that I do also want to lower it, and have a set of H&R Springs w/ new 17mm pads.

Has anyone ran this set up (I'm sure they have), did it rub? I know the H&R's won't help at the drag strip but this is a daily driver with the odd run down the track.

Would love to hear peoples input and suggestions.

I'm on H&R springs, with -2.5deg camber in the rear. Tire is a 275/40/17 ET Street R. Wheel is a 17x9 +48 Enkei PF01. Had to shave the rear pad tabs down, but no rubbing.

This was a 17x9.5 +52 Motegi wheel, with 275/40/17 NT05R's.

You'll need to know the width and offset of the 17" wheel you want to go with, in order to gauge how much it'll poke out

Yeah. I'm pretty sure all 17's will require you to shave down the pad tabs

If you got to shave the pads mine as well go for 16s you save a lot of weight over stock wheels 27lbs each side. the other pictures with 18s are to get a idea how low my car is and super stiff and still cuts a 1.60 60 foot with 225 wide tire.

love the setup! The welds look on point 👌
any more pictures?!? Do you think you’d rub if you were lowered on H&Rs?

Subbed! This thread is exactly what I was looking for! I’m lowered on H&R springs with the thicker 17mm pads in the rear.

looking for information on a rear setup. 17s with 275/40/17 with MT street ss is what I was leaning towards but not sure if I’d rub being lowered on springs.

Not trying to steer the thread off course too far but what wheels can I look for in 16” ? I can’t seem to find much.

Also, what exactly needs to be shaved for 16s to fit? Looks like the silver pieces on the outside of the pad, anyone know what they are even for ?

Its most likely there to cancel out vibrations that a huge brake pad may be subject to.

I figured the tabs are there to dampen vibrations and reduce low pressure squeal that seems to be a problem with semi-metallic brake pads.
