M156 Whipple supercharger Kit Announcement

We are nearing the completion of our M156 Whipple kit! So we feel its time to make the official announcement. Our Kit will be compatible with both Gen 4 2.9l or Gen 5 3.0l Whipples Our kit will feature both a 6 rib drive option and an added 8 rib option. From the get go our kit will be compatible with 82/85 and 92mm dual throttle bodies. It will feature a billet fuel rail and will utilize dual intercoolers modeled after the Dodge Hellcat. Infact in order to keep this kit as affordable as possible our kit utilizes Hellcat intercoolers, which can be purchased new or used and cuts a MAJOR cost off of the kit while providing a cooling capacity that exceeds any other kit currently on the market. This also means that there are a number of aftermarket intercooler options for those who exceed the stock intercoolers capacity of over 900whp.

Our current planned pricing should beat the nearest kit by over $2500. and the ONLY kit to run the Gen 5 units.

We are Running the prototype pieces over the next couple weeks and will begin testing immediately. All of our testing will be on a stock M156.

Not a bad idea to use the intercooler design of the hellcat. So does this mean you are going to be selling the plenum abs then customers buy their own compressor unit and intercooler cores or that those will be supplied in the end kit ?

Awesome to see the m156 platform still growing and offering more competitive prices. Can't wait to see some final production shots. Definitely going to be on my next mod list!

They might have to pay Legit Street Cars or AutoVlog to be the first guinea pigs.

Alex at Legit would be nice to see a nice methodical install and his opinion. Auto Vlog guy will pay someone, have no details and then blow it up I suspect (or drown it in a puddle)

We are trying to make it compatible with 92mm TBs off the bat, So we have to make a couple adjustments on the back side and then rerunning The runners.

We do not have an in house tune, We will offer a EC, Vtech, or RaceIQ tune if the customer chooses, But any existing tuner should be able to tune the kit, This will also help keep costs down for those who already have tunes.

We believe having a variety of tune options gives customers exactly what they need, Each tuner has their own individual strengths, and different customers have found different tuners to be best for their specific needs. Some customers also have relationships with specific tuners and like to keep all of their AMGs under the same person.

Now lets get hypothetical here, If you as a customer choose to purchase say a Large supercharger for an NA High Compression Motor, and decide that the pulley size you want is going to produce lets say 15psi, And you blow the engine. Thats not the Tuners fault, Thats not the manufacturers fault. We made a supercharger for a purpose, That purpose is to generate boost. If someone without asking, researching, or seeking help decides they are going to full send, it is only their fault.

That being said, We provide hundreds of customers a week with technical sales support so that they can make educated purchases to get the right setup for their needs. We will do our best to make sure that what the customer purchases has the correct boost level and supporting mods to run properly if they ask for our assistance. There are a number of resources people can use to find information to modify these vehicles safely.

ONLY in the AMG community would you have people like Sventastic Complaining about an additional vendor offering a new product for the platform.

And for the Vendor who likes to stalk our posts it would be really nice if you could make anything new for any of these planforms at some point.. eventually.. maybe, but probably not ever.

Don’t worry

We all know the 83mm pulley is manufactured incorrectly and they will not stand behind the incorrect bearing placement depth.

THIS THREAD IS ABOUT YOUR COMPANYS POOR SERVICE AND UNWILLINGNESS TO STAND BEHIND A PRODUCT. Many find it irresponsible to sell bolt ins without the complete kit to offer safety to an unknowing customer. The best companies provide support to complete the project start to finish, with results.

VRP IS A TERRIBLE COMPANY. Spend more with others to save your motor, time and breathe!

With all due respect this thread is actually about a supercharger announcement, Not a tune, Not a tuner kit. A supercharger. We will offer packages, And we will also sell the supercharger by itself with nothing. No tuning, No cooling, just the supercharger. JUST like Whipple does and tons and tons of other companies for other platforms. Just like turbochargers. Many also find it irresponsible to not do your due diligence when choosing to modify a vehicle. Especially one with a sticker price of $55,000+ In the end it IS the customers responsibility to make sure they are making informed decisions when purchasing upgrades and understanding the risks of modifying any vehicle. Because in the end you will always have customers who choose to push the limits regardless of what we say that limit is.

The phones are on and Info@vrpspeed.com Provides tons of technical support to customers who take the time to ask. The Superchargers product description will also include information relating to what supporting mods are required with each kit. We will also NOT openly offer pulley sizes that are too small for the M156 high compression engine, They will be special order only (Via phone or email) Just like with the M113k.

Again this thread isnt about our customer service or technical support, That is Shardul popping into our threads like he always does, hoping people like sven will rile people up like you and derail our announcements.

People like me......?
I'm not complaining. It's called feedback.
If VRP would have handled an experience I have made with them differently, all the feedback would be neutral or even positive.
But VRP doesn't stand behind their poorly reversed engineered products and as long as that is the case, I will continue to provide feedback so new members stay informed and cautious.
