Voltage regulator issue?
Been having issues with my car recently replaced the fuel pump because it died out on me. Fuse 23 was blown. The car drove fine back to my house. Died out on me the next day with the fuse blown again. Pretty sure it has to do with either my e85 kit or the voltage regulator. I charged the battery up and got it tested which tested good. I drove the car to work with me reading the voltages both ways. Way to work was normal reading around 13.8-14.5. the way home was a different story. Picture posted of the voltage readings of the whole five mile trip home. After getting home I turn the car off and back on and it's back up to 14.4. is the voltage on regulator on its way out? I tried replacing it but one bolt got stripped and waiting for tools to get here to remove it.

How many miles? I changed mine at 36k miles and it was about 1/3 worn. They should last close to 100k miles I’d guess.
Not bad to get out and cheap to replace, might as well try. The bolts holding it in are easy to crossthread because you’ll be reaching up there blind, so be careful.

I tried tackling this job last week. The last bolt ended up getting stripped. Very tight space to work without pull down the steering rack. I'm currently sitting at 86k the connection plug that plugs in is very hard to remove any ideas on how to take this off?
Took me 30 mins before. I had to buy left handed drill bit and a right angle drill to remove the last screw which i will tackle today.
The last two days driving to work the car stop charging it would show 14 volts at start up and then go straight back down to 12.5. So i've been charging the battery. I will report back when i replace the voltage regulator. If this doesn't fix it then a new alternator

Was the issue ever resolved. I’m having similar charging issues which I think is impacting the outside ambient temp sensor. Check engine light is on. Sensor has been replace , cabling has been checked including SAM connections.
error code - The outside temperature sensor has a short circuit to positive
thanks

replaced it and voltage is as strong as ever. as everyone stated, grounds may be corroded and causing a bad ground. or missing ground entirely. the alternator can be functionally tested at autozone as they have an alternator testing machine. generally speaking though, the alternators that mercedes use are stout and essentially are lifetime parts, but nothing is truly lifetime. granted the voltage regulator is the wear item. if you have a corroded ground, you may have excess amperage or other issue causing issue.

i also pushed and pulled and pushed and pulled to slightly get some movement in the connector before attempting full release. its a two hand job.
