Inner Tire Edge wear
I jacked up my car to change the oil today and noticed that I could see the bands on the inner edges of the front tires! After replacing the tires I want to know what I should do to avoid the issue going forward. What are the most likely culprits. Alignment, suspension wearing out, or something else? My car has 53k miles. When the car is jacked up and I try to push the wheels left to right or up and down, they don't budge. I would guess that means it's not a control arm issue?

Yes, there doesn't seem to be a consensus from what I've been able to find. I think I will just take it in for an alignment after the tires are changed. If the inner inch of the tires wear out more quickly in order to provide better handing I guess it is what it is.

Except OEM there is only front and rear Toe directional adjustment. OK for showroom height conditions !
But Camber adjustment is essential for day to day commuting encountering high cambered roads, wheel squat / altered height through load carrying or lowering, fitting wide profile tires or just having ongoing adjustability to cater for curb knocks.
Because of ever increasing speed of auto assembly lines OEM front and rear Camber (and front Caster) has been deleted !!
We saw the need and have reinstated from the early 90's once again Camber and Caster adjustment capability.
EXAMPLE for all W204 Models front Camber kit P/N 502616-1i is $345 - less then cost of 1 hi performance tire. Replaces the 2 front lower arm inner bushings. Designed to fit without need for arm removal. Is precise single wrench adjustable accurately (under load) - direct on alignment rack.

I didn't say that I'm upset; I'm just trying to understand what is going on... If the angle the tires are set at is helping performance but causing odd tire wear, then it's just something I need to be aware of and check on occasionally.

Both my C63 and E63 are susceptible to 'odd wear' with improper air pressures.
Much higher air pressure than I prefer (for feel), but at the recommended pressures I have/had pretty even wear.
At lower pressures up front the inner edge wear was accelerated A LOT.

I lost my front inner edges in a few thousand miles of pure commuting. Changed alignment to Zero Toe up front and never had an issue again.
On PS4S now like many here.

this I just can't type it out any more. In run 1/16" of total toe in front and have much better wear and no noticeable handling difference over the stock toe
