C63 Edition 1 Coupe
Selling my Edition 1 Coupe 49,000 miles. But a question for the crowd (see inside)

The 2012 Edition 1 They made 100 coups and 60 sedans. Why is the 507 selling for so much more?
The Edition 1 package was a 16,000 option. The 507 was an 8,000 option. So, why is there a $30,000 dollar price difference between them?
This car HAS to be the next 507; I just don't think enough people know about them.
Your thoughts?
This is my car, BTW,

This car is worth half?

Recent sales history.

Window Sticker (not mine but they were all the same car)

One thing I would point out is that while the package was more than the 507 package, the Edition One package was mostly available options included together into one package with P31. The 507 package was more power and some things like the Black Series hood and forged wheels as well as a few cosmetics and then you still had to buy all the other stuff that was in the edition one package on top of it. Despite my 507 package only costing 10k (it was 9750 not 8k), all those other options the edition 1 had still have to be added, so MSRP was 92k on my 507 and you could option it up to 100k. It also came in other colors so only black may limit the number of buyers on the edition 1 and the 507's are 2 or 3 years newer helping value.

Overall I think no one knows about them, even the 507 if you take it to like car max they will just offer you 30 grand for it because they don't know what it is. I have never in my life seen an Edition 1 in person, they are almost as rare as a black series. I do feel like the 507 having the black series hood is a big selling point as well as being the swan song model right before the W204 ended. Once the 507's get too expensive people might start to look for other unique models and find the Edition 1 as a nice option. I sold my 507 last year and I thought prices were pretty good but still reasonably fair now they seem to be 15k more, crazy!

Well, even rarer is the Affalterbach edition 2011 with only 30 made. But all of these are basically the same as the rest other than colour options so that why they aren't as valued as the 507 which has a significant amount of unique specs/parts.

I agree on the hood. I'm not sure if my wheels are forged or not. I have curb rash on two and they wanted 2k each for a set, so I hope to god for that price they are. (I always assumed they were)

edition 1 is the beginning of the 204 coupe offering with certain spec'd options. Nothing unique or truly one off. Meanwhile the 507 is like the last of breed / end of production with all the spice amg had to offer. They threw in the whole kitchen sink. Blackseries hood, more power, great wheels, badging, decal package, etc... Your identical car could be optioned. 507 parts couldn't be optioned on a build sheet without being a 507. At the end of the day regular C63 models are very mass produced. Is a 507 overpriced and over rated? yea absolutely. I'd understand a 5-10k premium but 15-30k premium is laughable. None of the C63's will ever compare to Black series. Not to mention none of you guys have collector grade cars. sub 1000 mile a year cars. Once you pass 20k miles you can forget " collector" your car is a driver's car.

The 205 C63 edition 1 had things that couldn't be optioned that were unique to the car and thus the justified price difference. Not to mention the 205 coupes just carry a premium in general.

I'll concede the 507 certainly has a much cooler hood, driver's aids, and a bit of a tune. A poor analogy (but one I'll make because I have a 19 Z06) would be 2016 Z06 vs a 2019 Z06. The 19 does have quite a few advances, but one isn't half-price when all other things are more or less equil.
could easily justify 10k, especially on a well-equipped 507. I do not belive you could have gotten the Edition one seats or steering wheel.
I've always had a thing for rare cars. To me, that's always been a giant bonus.
As a TTA owner (Turbo Trans Am), I see an E1 like those. For years you could pick up a very respectable TTA for around 8k. Now you can't touch one for much under 30, most are much more, and the rarer and lower mile cars have surpassed 6 figures these are the 25 or 26k cars you couldn't give away in the early 2000s.
But back when I drove one daily, no one had any idea GM put a Turbo 6 in a GTA.
Now the world knows about them, and they/ve shot up like a rock.
I think that's going to happen here. The question is how long will it take.

You are trying to understand why the market doesn’t value what you value. That is a curvy road filled with potholes

Also, You´ve got a satin black car, more unique then others, but it has a very small demand on the market.
The enthusiast´s will be the ones that are interested, not all people are enthusiast, sadly enough.

I didn't know what the edition 1 was until I read this thread. Doesn't make me want one more than than 507 though... One thing to point out vs the 507 those are all newer cards 14-15 vs yours being a 12.
