C63 Black Series - can I add Euro seats & Track Pack?

Hello! Has anyone added the Euro Black Series seats or the Track Pack to a U.S. spec C63 Black Series that didn’t have it from the factory, please?

parts for track pack (diff cooler & assembly) shouldn't too expensive, can be sourced in the states from MB USA & retro-fitted.

seats on the other hand, quite costly, i got a quote almost 10 yrs ago when i was shopping for the Euro spec seats for my CLK63BS, ended up sticking to the original Euro spec CLK63BS cloth seats at the time because the Euro spec C63BS buckets would cost around double than the Euro spec CLK63BS seats back then.

having had that experience, when it came time to source the C63BS, i made sure to acquire an Euro spec C63BS that already came with the bucket seats/solid roof/no reflectors, so i didn't need to spend that much $ on the complete Euro spec conversion like i did with the CLK63BS; i think when i priced out the entire Euro spec conversion on an American spec C63BS, the total, in parts alone, was somewhere between $40k~$50k shipped, and the seats alone with brackets/sliders/etc were nearly half of that cost.

if you don't want to fork out that much $, and not over 6' tall or weigh over 200lbs, just buy a pair of Recaro Pole Position, they're the closest thing to the buckets in the euro spec C63BS, just a bit narrower & not in the same upholstery.

the racing buckets do not have seat heaters.

and although the OEM AMG buckets are nice to have...they're simply rebranded Recaro Pole Positions. you could order them in a higher model carbon fiber shell, add base mount, add universal sliders, then recaro side brackets and you'll be in cheaper than the factory seats but in carbon fiber. hell, you could even have them reupholstered and have the AMG stitching done if you wanted them to look authentic.

edit:
as mentioned by another member the pole positions are slightly different. still most likely manufactured by recaro. the AMG versions have some widening of holes for the seat buckle, but also so it has some extra room on the side bolsters of your thighs when you are seated.

The correct Recaro model is the Pole Position ABE. They are TUV certified for street use and have the larger buckle opening as well as a little more head padding.

They are the version used in OEM cars that have Recaro fixed back seats (Porsche/MB-AMG/Aston Martin/etc)

I have had these on one of my cars and they are amazing for a streetable fixed back seat, super comfy and very supportive

Thank you. I want them to be correct. Will putting these in trigger any warning lights or other errors with the car when things like seat heaters and airbags are not plugged in?

Yes, sorry I wasn't specific, I had these on an STI, not a c63. You will have airbag problems for certain, not sure about seat heaters unless you try to use them. For the airbag you might get away with using a resistor in the connector, however with passenger there is usually also an occupancy sensor. Due to the option in europe for the recaros I would expect you should be able to code these out but I'm not an expert there...

on an American spec BS, yes, SRS light will show up on the cluster, due to the lacking of weigh sensors, you'd need an unlocked STAR computer to code it out.

500E - CLK BS

Evosport did my seats for the clk bs which were identical to the euro spec in 2012:

- dtm sparco seat - carbon fiber shell - leather/alcantara - $5400 (2 seats)
- side/bottom mounts w/ sliders - $880 (2x)
- sparco seat universal track set (sliders) - $162
- srs sensor - $1215 (install/labor/retrofit seatbelt = roll bar)

Looks like a couple of people had mentioned that it may cause airbag problems, so I guess I will skip the seats. I would never be able to forgive myself if someone got injured in my car just because I wanted cool Euro seats.

Thank you.

It's not not just the weight sensors - the Euro bucket seats also do not have the actual airbags that the coupe seats do. Unless you're turning it into a proper race car (in which case you have many better seat options), I wouldn't touch them.

that's actually not bad, now if you check out how much the Euro Spec bucket seats are (with all tooling & necessary/related parts for the installation)...

not to mention other sought after optional parts - the carbon aero wing assembly is around $10k, carbon front splitters are around $6k, the carbon side mirror assembly is also around $8k... so $6k for the whole track pkg cooling assembly doesn't surprise me at all...
