Car limp modes on track

Car limp modes on track


Happens on the kerbs a couple of times.

Says something about oil capacity at the end.

Seemed more like the traction control being wonky but wasnt sure.

Most likely oil temperature.
It was showing 120C just before it limped.
I believe limp mode comes in at 125-127C.

I believe he mentioned he did an oil cooler upgrade. he did mention he was stage 2 and after reviewing the video he's only hitting 120c on oil temps.

also, all power and throttle control is cut which a clear indication of the computer hitting a power calculation fault. sign of a tune that is not tuned for part throttle usage and probably only was built on the dyno at full throttle.

I don’t know how you can possibly make that kind of diagnosis from this video. Misha was on the throttle completely both times it happened. Could be practically anything. A loose connection. A bad ABS module. Not every problem is the result of a bad tune. In fact that’s the least likely culprit here.

Lots of people on the YouTube comments mentioning it might be a throttle pedal issue as is common on W204s.

Makes a bit of sense, full throttle, hits kerbs, TC and TPS go haywire.

omg, i cringed when he slapped it in park - what happened to N! he shouldve just kept in C mode as the temps were pretty hot! its an accelerator pedal module and it was a common issue for BS owners when they were pushing the cars on the track

and whats the metallic noise?

edit: i see now, too much weight in the car

Misha said in the comments he just kinda got flustered cause that corner is apparently super scary to be in that kind of a position, basically asking to get rammed into at full beans so he just panicked trying to get the car going again.

Misha is a nice guy so if he broke it, he'll have it fixed.

when a sensor is bad when you swing past the point where communication is bad or there is a break in the potentiometer, you will instantly fault.

power calculation faults occur cumulative where various values across the ECU programming do not meet measured output. this generally occurs at part throttle or coming off throttle but can on throttle as well. throttle faults from what I've seen still allow for throttle usage, just very very slow or darty response. power calculation faults remove all throttle input and only allow the engine to run at idle speeds. transmission shifting will still work, but throttle pedal inputs will not apply any power. restarting the engine clears the fault or restores drivability until cumulative calculation is breached once again.

I'll bet money it's his e85 kit. My car did that to me with e85 wired up. Freaking engine just shut off on me while driving. Did it twice and I pulled that crap off my car and never once had that happen again.
