Question Rubbing on Pirellis and not Michelins

Hey guys,
I have a 2009 C63 that is lowered and I recently switched over from Micheline PS4s to Pirelli PZeros. Both tires are the same size (rear 265/35/19) however with the Pirellis there is a lot of rub even on the slightest of bumps and with the Michelins there is no rub at all. It seems to be rubbing right at the lip in the fender and is very annoying to have to drive with. I was just wondering if this was because of the tires themselves or if there is another reason that they are rubbing which I can fix.

Thank you

"265" for example can vary by tire brand for actual width. Also could have a squarer sidewall.

Different tires have different sizes. Even when the sidewalls say the same you have to look at the actual tread width listed by manufacturer. It's weird but the width number isn't the actual tread but rather what the tires width is installed and inflated. Some tires have a more rounded edge where some are more square and this can affect the actual tread width being wider or narrower.

Manufacturers make charts which show the exact width of the tire and contact patch at pressure. You got unlucky with your selection. And the Pirelli is massively inferior to the Michelin performance-wise in practically every measurable way. Trim your bumper clip, it’s not difficult.

I think the correct aspect ratio for the rear on 19s should be 30…so the tire size should be 265/30/19, otherwise the tire will be too tall and rub.

never even noticed this but yes 19s should be a 30 not 35 as you state

Weird I didn't know that. The other tires were 35 as well tho and they had no rub.

Go onto Tire Rack website and you will see the "tread" width difference between brands.
Don't confuse this with tire width which is the widest point of the carcass.
