Is this normal or am I paranoid?
Hi all,
I’ve recently Purchased a 2012 c63 with P31 package The vehicle has 100,000km (60,000 miles) on it. I have completed quite a few preventative maintenance items so far including:
Coils, spark plugs & fuel injectors
Transmission flush
Diff fluid change
Oil & Filter plus MOS2 liquid Molly anti friction
Have a listen to these two separate clips and let me know if you’re hearing ticking? Keep in mind this is on a cold start. Engine is not at operating temperature.
I will upload a second video shortly.

Sounds like a healthy engine.
I would start looking at replacing the belt and idler pulleys in the next 10k miles.

Sounds pretty normal, possibly a hint of whining from the belt drive system but hard to tell from the video. As mentioned above great idea to replace belt, idlers and belt tensioner around 50-60k miles. Not sure why everyone replaces ignition coils on these all the time, they rarely go bad if plugs are replaced when recommended.

The only ticking I hear is the fuel injectors doing their job. There is nothing unhealthy in the engine sound in any of the three clips you posted. Enjoy the car!

Sounds like a healthy M156, congrats on the new ride! Like other members have stated I would recommend changing the pulleys and belt when you get a chance. Also, you didn't specify but make sure you're using 5w-40 and draining the oil cooler when changing the oil every 4-5k miles.

Dang, I must be paranoid too, my engine sounds like this and I was getting worried lol. It especially freaks me out when I drive next to a wall or barricade and you can hear the engine noise reflecting back.
I might do some before and after videos, I think right now my oil has Fuchs 0w-40 which was topped up recently with 1.5 liters of Mobil 1 5w-40, and Liqui Moly Hydraulic Lifter additive (the mech that did it was team BMW and loves Fuchs I guess, I added Mobile 1 when it got low). In a week or two I'm switching to Liqui Moly 5w-40 with Ceratec and see if it makes a audible difference.
