Hello All,
Try to to sporadically stop by over here to see how things are and what activity still remains. Figured I would share for those that still frequent the good ol' forums!
I picked up a PFL C63 a few months ago after years of hoping to manual swap one. I had figured out the M113/M119/M273 manual swaps and knew the M156 was inevitable at a certain point to try. A week after having the C63 home I dove into it and within a a few weeks the deed was done lol!
I shared everything there is to know including a full OEM parts list, programming and wiring for things like reverse lights etc. Hope it can be of use around here or at least entertaining
The car is completely different as a manual, a ton of fun and feels completely natural. Can I out-shift the 722.9? Most times no... But is it a heck of a lot more fun as a driver's car and way easier to be in-sync with? Yes!
Here are the vids, feel free to ask any questions you might have and I'll try to stop by to answer. If anyone is interested in having me manual swap theirs, I am doing customer cars but only have the capacity to do 4-5 per year right now. You can contact me at anderzen.amg@gmail.com if interested.
Cheers!

I would like to see the race between a stock 7 speed and your manual swap. super cool that its manual now but not sure if it helped or hurt performance.

Not aware that any modern car is faster as a manual, considering the 722.9 is a relatively fast transmission.Originally Posted by yfz rock

Its about the mechanical connection of the driver to the drive train. A purely emotional thing…

Cars nowadays shift super quick, computers theoretically can shift quicker than a human. Those very quick revving engines can easily hit redline before a human can shift in time, I understand not the W204 C 63 but I mean newer cars.Originally Posted by amgfreak87

They also explained how the needle cannot move quick enough in those particular cars hence why they have to go digital.
I guess there's no external cooler capability on that transmission huh?
Looks like it doesn't have a temp sensor either.

Race result would likely end with the stock auto winning in a straight line, but track times may give the manual a slight edge with an experienced driver and like said a more enjoyable experience for the weekend backroad driver. This was all about feel and curiosity for me personally and I am really happy with the results. Rowing the gears yourself behind this beautiful V8 is amazing.
Correct, no external cooler for the manual but not really necessary like the auto. The original cooler lines were removed and I plugged the inlet/outlet on the cooler in front. The goal was to leave everything reversible.
