I'm concerned about the 48V battery issue that has been affecting many MB mild hybrid cars (Not just C class) for the past 3 years or so.
The new C-Class and S-Class use a "different generation" of the 48V system and are not subject to the same problems that have plagued all the other models.
I don't know if what I want exists lmao. I've been mostly certain through this process that the C43 was the closest to what I want that I could afford but I'm concerned now. I might just be stuck in the past as well and will need to reckon with the fact that cars are changing. One thing I'll say - the 4 cylinder is not an issue for me whatsoever. I'm cool with it.
I'm really not sure when a v6 became a revered engine layout. Going back to when I was young - the most popular affordable sports car with a V6 was the VQ in the 350z - notoriously awful sounding. They've starting using v6's in more exotic cars recently with the downsizing but the best sounding engines, IMO, are not V6's and they are in the bottom third if I ranked engine configurations.

To be perfectly honest, I absolutely adore the way the engine sounds in my A35. While engine sounds are important to me, I don't rely on them to define the driving character. Fortunately, the steering feel in the C43 sounds like it's great and I'm super excited about that - I just want a car that's visceral but not so crude as to make my wife hate it so we can roll in it as a family.

Even replacing the battery doesn't seem to fix the issue..
I have been thinking about the M340 or M440 which both have gotten really great reviews (mostly because they are 3L inline 6 with a good transmission and good exhaust sound)
Thoughts?
I'm looking for some comfort here
As others mentioned, too early to tell, plus the cars should be released soon enough so definitely very least test drive it and then make a decision if you want to keep it or not.

The BMW also has a 48V mild-hybrid system, matter of fact most makes started to include them as well, economy or luxury, it is the way forward I guess.
All was fine until one evening I was driving home and the car felt like it was slipping gears and power was greatly reduced. Shortly thereafter, a CEL light came on indicating "drive train error, power has been reduced"

Sorry to hear that, thanks for your reply, the dealership didn't say what might be broken in the transmission (torque converter, gears, etc.) or what code was stored, they just said yes it is the transmission and we went ahead and ordered a new one, is that correct?

The dealer initially indicated that they cleared the codes and thought everything was fine but just to be sure they opened a case with BMW. They called me back in 5m and said BMW indicated the transmission needed to be replaced.
The m340i is an awesome car. I’m torn between getting another one (ordered an xDrive version) and the C43. Love the C43s interior/exterior styling. I could be happy either way honestly.

I see, I understand your decision and I believe MB is good at interiors, BMW is good at the driving experience (I guess they are called Ultimate Driving Machine after all). Hopefully the W206 C 43 doesn't disappoint after all.

Yeh that’s one concern for me. I wish they would release the C43 so I can drive it.

I think one thing that should impress all is the steering feel and turn in. The car revs higher too now and makes 31.5 psi of boost! I'm not sure if people don't know what they are looking at when they open the hood in these videos but the turbo is huge, it's made by garret - the leader in the turbo industry as far as I'm concerned and it makes over 2 bar of boost? These things excite me.

Do you have any sense of concern about the reliability of the electric-gas turbocharger? I know the M139 is tried and true, but this F1-inspired tech is new for passenger cars correct?

If it weren't a garrett turbo, maybe. Not short term.
So assuming we are actually going to get our cars eventually, I went ahead and registered for a 5 hours Track time / lesson at LimeRock.
This track is included in AMG Track Pace app both on in the car ($250 option ) and iphone / android app. If someone saw all those recent C63 videos on the track where the the driver followed the app direction, that was it. https://www.mercedes-amg.com/en/vehi...rack-pace.html
Great, thanks - agree that it's strange they ran into a shortage of red dye and string... haha. I think it still looks great. Red seatbelts still go fine with it in my opinion.
The microsuede/alcantara/mb-tex is considered anthracite - so interior should ship as expected with red accents/stitching.
