not car related (we get treated poorly when it comes to consumer electronics, many discounts that the States gets we don't get, we don't get lots of colour options for phones for example, we miss out on many models, our software updates come very late, customer support of many brands are generally poor, our general cost of living is higher, we have the most expensive phone plans in the world in general and with the least data (although sort of improving).

Ah, Canada; where a $350k household income affords you a 2-bedroom condo and a used Hyundai accent... :|
The craziest thing for me is watching those home-hunter shows hundred-acre properties with massive houses down in Texas going for around $500K.

@eatmydust Tell you what - Let's trade spots. You have to take my wife and kid though.

I just received a reply from my dealer - $80,900 CAD. Is the official MSRP of the MY23 C43. That's insane :|. It increased by a full Hyundai accent...LOL

Ouch, oh well. I still might consider it but dang there are many other options out there at that price point. That said though, the MY23 or MY24 C 63 S E Performance also will be increasing a lot compared to the W205 C 63 S, so that is probably why.

That's base MSRP? Do you at least get standard options that we have to pay a la carte?

That does seem exorbitant

Doesn't help because it exceeded 100K, so luxury tax time.

I live in California so you don't want to trade me. Same issue. 300k a year is considered average income

You guys serious, average? Here in Boston it would've been just above the poverty rate.

What's $3,000 Freight? HST is 13% in Ontario, wow.

Freight and PDI, so basically delivery and destination. Ya and 13% does not include the luxury tax imposed on $100K+ cars.

Luxury tax is calculated on the sale price, not the purchase price, so I think I scraped by that at 97k...Otherwise it's another 20k. LOL

$3k to deliver to Toronto, 3 time more than few miles over to Detroit. And all those taxes, what are you guys getting for it? free snow? We pay like 6.5% max here and everyone complains.

Nah this is old stuff, while SF area was getting poorer, everyone had been moving up here from Asia / Europe so the real estate prices went up like 25% last year and the salaries as well. For $250k you can only buy a parking garage. Used to be NY, but since the crime had spiked, everyone is moving up here. Reminds them of Europe without high taxes and with high paying jobs in tech, biotech and medical.

Thank you guys.

And yes @Dima that is spot on. As the sub 100k gas powered AMG field narrows, I will most likely reapproach the C43/C63 in a few years.

The study was from 2021. California bay area like silicon Valley far surpasses Boston in cost. And parts of greater Los Angeles.

Unless you want a smaller car I understand it might be difficult to go back from an E 63 S to a C 43 or C 63 S.

SV is much bigger than Boston metro, it's actually hard to compare. Boston proper vs SF proper could be compared and they have been going in the opposite direction.
I think SF has been going downhill fast in the last few years together with NY and some other big cities.

W206 has grown in comparison to W205, I assume the next E would be bigger than the current. The trend is for bigger, heavier and electric obviously, need more space for those big, heavy batteries.

Great point. After owning compact sedans for several years, I’m loving the full size E class. However, I will likely be forced to look at a new C43/used C63 in a few years in order to stay at my price point of ~75k.

Yup that is true, the CLA (C118?) for example is pretty much the same exterior length as the W205 but not the same headroom and legroom. Vehicles kept on growing larger and our garages, public parking spots, road widths aren't That said though, the rear axle steering will help with the U-turning for example.
