AMG Private Lounge Cheif Information Editor, just sent me an e-mail stating the following:
"The pano roof option only adds 40 KG or about 88 pounds not 100 KG. This was the response from AMG."

WOW that's a letdown what happened to the significant weight savings over the w204?? That also comes out to almost 54% of the weight over the front axle which isn't great either.

Thank you very much for the data point.
This was an old response from AMG, albeit from 2007:

To all of those owners taking delivery, get your cars on the scales if you can! Try to have the gas tank at or below 10%.

Good digging but a lot can change in nearly 8-9 years.
Keep in mind this car was the S model (the heaviest model), had a full tank of gas (100 lbs at the very minimum), and had the panoramic roof (another 100 lbs, minimum).

We just need to see a non-pano W205 put on the scales with a full tank of gas. It's easy to subtract the weight of 17-18 gallons of gas.
How much do you think the pano roof weighs? The 200 plus lb figure sounds like a huge stretch.

There's only a 26lb difference between the C63 and C63S according to the certified curb weights that were posted.

Regarding the weight subject overall, this is a car that is putting down nearly 470 horsepower at the wheels.
The W204 C63 Black Series was a very focused/competent car and it weighed over 4,000 lbs.
Curb weights are nice to talk about on the internet but I'm not really concerned at all about the W205's weight.
I'm most concerned with how the car drives. There are plenty of heavier cars that hide their weight with power/torque and clever engineering. Since no reviewers have bemoaned the W205's weight, I'm guessing it's a non-issue with this platform.
I like to think of it like this: My W204 C63 weighs 3,820 lbs (no driver, less than 1/4 tank of fuel). When I drive it on the track with an instructor riding shotgun, I don't think to myself "Wow, this car's handling characteristics/manners have changed drastically with this 175-lb instructor in here."
Similarly, when I track the car w/out an instructor, I never catch myself saying "Man the car's behavior has changed dramatically without the extra weight of a passenger." (Key words here: drastically; dramatically)
For dedicated track cars, weight is a very germane issue. When it comes to daily drivers capable of track duty, the weight discussion, in terms of pure numbers, is a bit silly to me. You're just not going to feel 150-200 lbs driving the car on the street. On the track, it's a different story (particularly when the car is being pushed 10/10ths by a professional "hotshoe"), but still, 150-200 lbs is not a crushing weight penalty.
If the W205's dynamics were greatly hindered by the weight, something you can feel when driving the car, that would be another story.
Most of the well-optioned F80 M3s weigh 3,700+ lbs w/ DCT and a full tank of gas. I'm not surprised at all that the C63 weighs 200+ lbs more. The latter has a 4.0L biturbo V8 whereas the former has a smaller and lighter 3.0L I6 (also turbo'd).
My 2 cents.

What ever happened to the official certification weights that were just recently released?
Official Certification Weights:
C63:
- 3729 lbs Shipping Weight (10% fuel load)
- 3829 lbs Curb Weight (100% fuel load
C63 S:
- 3755 lbs Shipping Weight (10% fuel load)
- 3855 lbs Curb Weight (100% fuel load)
It would be pretty disappointing if the W205 ends up weighing more than the W204 after MB-AMG touted significant weight savings with this new generation!

certainly it cant be over 4000 lbs!! thats about the weight of an e60 m5. and all models are on a trend to be getting lighter so i doubt the new car is heavier than the previous one.

Eurocharged Performance ML63 and TT lambo
So...... in typical EC fashion, we just couldn't leave anything alone! We have our own upgraded turbos and downpipes going on the car in the next few weeks!

Oh man!! Lot's has been going on here @ Eurocharged with our C63S!
Let's start by saying the ECU has been a PAIN to crack! After MANY long hours at the shop and tons of hacking, Jerry has finally cracked the MED17.7.5 ECU! Others have claimed to have done this already, but those "tuned" cars are not any faster than a stock car. Our car is FAST and will be sure to turn some heads. I truly believe that despite what others have said, Eurocharged is the first in the WORLD to tune this car. None of the top industry tools support this ECU currently. Luckily, we have the in house tools and development team to tackle this project.
The tune is 100% complete and the results are AMAZING! We will be posting up details in a few days, along with the videos and dyno graphs. Jerry has been driving the car and doing some final data-logging and gathering the needed VBOX information. The tune is $1999 and will require the ECU to be sent to our Houston location for password retrieval and to have the tuning done. There is no drilling or any of that non-sense....just a simple bench flash for now. OBDII support will be handled by a third party and they have already started working on it.
NEXT....
Our upgraded turbos are almost complete and we are just finishing some testing before releasing pricing! You should expect HUGE power gains and ROCK solid Eurocharged reliability with EXCELLENT pricing as always. Our turbo swap will for sure put a smile on some faces here. There are some teaser pics below for you to enjoy!
NEXT....
We have found that the IC system on the C63 is amazing! A standard car with just a tune will most likely not need an upgraded IC system. However, we have developed YET another heat exchanger for you. It will be a front mount unit and will include everything needed to bolt it right in, including a horn relocation kit! It's HOT here in Texas so we have some good data on the upgrade!
NEXT....
We have made a set of downpipes that we will start testing next week. However, this upgrade will most likely not be popular like with other turbo cars. Put it this way, the first step in the MB R&R guide for the downpipes is to remove the transmission!!! This will be a huge turn off for most C63 owners. It will be easy to cut the old DP’s out and install ours, but returning to stock will not be so easy. For this reason, we will spend too much time on them right now.
Enjoy the teaser pics!!
