Angry Check engine light on C63s edition 1

Hey guys. Not a very pleasant experience owning my first Benz and going though a check engine light with a 550 mile car. I picked up family at airport, put the luggage in the trunk, kinda forced the last one cause auto trunk won't close. I make them fit and when I start the car light goes on. I drive for a little and stop. My wife said that when I went to trunk and started moving things the light came off and on again. Went to dealer and they say drive it if it's driving good. Next week if it doesn't come off which I doubt they told me to bring it. Could there be anything in the trunk area that would cause this. I'm pissed as hell. Even if it drives ok it bothers me!! Thoughts? And nope I haven't out gas recently. Been driving car all day with no lights until around 3 30pm. Any input will be appreciated

My check engine light came on at 1100 miles.
Actually my trunk broke on day 2. A few days later I noticed some very poor bumper fitment. A few days after that the night package trim that runs under the door sill came off. Then the next day the check engine light came on.
My dealer bought it back for 1500 less than j paid and then gave me 8500 off a w204 507.

It broke my heart because the w205 is outstanding car. I'll probably buy another one next year.

Yeah my trim under my door sill came loose on both sides as well. Dealer has new pcs ordered.

Any word on the CEL cause from the shop? Fuel, timing, emmissions?

My wifes W204 2014 model went into the shop with <1000 miles.... the fuel pump p/u was disintegrating, sucking plastic into the fuel p/u causing fuel starvation and limp mode intermittently.... a savvy tech @ MB diagnosed this by monitoring fuel pressure with car on the rack...... revving engine......

My 2014 ML350 was bought brand new, within the first week, one of the front sensors failed and had to be replaced.

I just placed my order today, seeing your post made me cringed a little...

Ill say this. It was one of the most dynamic cars I've ever driven. Felt amazing light on its feet. The car drives like a super hero. The interior quality is amazing. No squeaks. No rattles ever. My car had issues with exterior pieces. Maybe I had bad luck. The check engine light was never diagnosed. It could have been nothing.

Judging by all the complaints in the regular w205 section, they have had quite a few bad days.

Really? That was fast. I get my car next week and feel I'm still madly in love with the idea of owning it. I just can't imagine the pain that would cause me to walk away from it after two weeks. Sorry to hear about this bro. The W204 507 is not a bad option either.

Are the quality issues occurring only in the U.S. built vehicles or are the German built cars suffering some of the same problems??

Why did they not investigate the check engine light? No way would I accept that it might just go away, it should never come on if the engine and sensors are working correctly.

Hopefully won't have these issues, might is being built in Germany.

I had a similar issue with my c350. It went into limp mode but ended up being a faulty sensor. It actually happened twice.

Will keep you guys posted. Car is going to service on Friday probably. I'm going away for a few days. I'm definitely not settling with "it may be nothing, it may go away kind of answer). No way!

I hope that all of these reported problems are just early teething issues and not indications of inadequate assembly control or parts inspection. My current 2013 E550 has been rock solid for the last 2 1/2 years other than recently having the faded interior trim replaced . All of these things in this forum and the W205 forum make me a bit apprehensive about going with this platform at this time. The C63S at my dealer had the rocker panel trim fall off right in the parking lot. I suffered with a 2004 W211 which spent more time in the shop replacing failing parts than I was able to drive it. Even when MB changed out the car with a replacement, the new one proceeded to fail in similar ways. I have my MY16 C63S build still on order for later this year. I hope that things improve at the assembly plant.

WTF. This should not happen. These cars are not part of a first grade cut, paste, and glitter project. I hope HQ Merc in Germany is reading all W205 comments, including the non-AMG comments. I always associated Merc with high quality, luxury, and class. Trim falling off in the parking lot at the dealer is really an embarrassment to the brand. Having said that, I don't think these problems are systemic since feedback on forums is a really small sample size. Like you, I hope they resolve these issues soon.

You would think so, but even my salesperson was acknowledging that he has heard of multiple issues of late. When I had mentioned to him that someone in the C63 AMG forum had reported loose trim on the rocker panel, he couldn't believe it. However, several weeks later when a new C63S ED1 was sitting in the lot and the trim fell off, he became a believer of some problems occurring. These are not inexpensive vehicles by any means. The MSRP on my build is over $90K which is $18k OVER my previous 2013 E550! Time will tell whether things improve or not (fit and finish) as well as mechanical.
