AMG Driving Academy
"If you purchased a new Mercedes-AMG model in the last twelve (12) months, a complimentary seat at any of the Basic Training programs has been reserved for you."
The beginner class is a blast. I took it when I bought my wife a C63 in 2012. I am now signed up for the intermediate class at Laguna Seca in November.
The AMG Driving Academy program is absolutely amazing. The instructors are very knowledgeable and competitive. You get tons of seat time. And the venues are top-notch too.
Signing up for the Advanced course here soon. Perhaps I'll see you at Laguna Seca, Ira?
Thanks
I did not think it was free. I was told some time ago that there was still a fee even if you bought an AMG.

I think if you poke around the Driving Academy website you can find videos of the course they use.
Now even more excited to get my car late August/Early September

I am attending the intermediate class scheduled for the weekend of November 14th. These events tend to sell out, so if this is the one you want to attend, you should call the academy and reserve your spot and ask if you can apply your discount once the car arrives. Otherwise, there is a good chance there will be no spots left if you wait until your car is delivered in October.
With the initial course, they put some cones in the middle of the straight between turns 11 and 12. You still get up to about 130 on that straight, and depending on how fast your group is (1 instructor leading 3 cars), you could easily be taking the cone gap at 90+ mph.

I'd like to do Laguna Seca at some point. I asked an instructor if he had a favorite circuit with respect to the AMG DA. He said that COTA is pretty hard to beat but Laguna Seca is also a good option.
He said that the main problem with Lime Rock is that it's an older track. There isn't a lot of "run-off" real estate and thus, the pace has to be adjusted for the lead-follow sessions. It's a great track but very unforgiving to beginners. It's also a bit shorter than LS and COTA.
Which month were you there?
I will be attending Level 2 in December at COTA. Anyone in the area??

COTA I'm sure is "nicer" due to that it's newer

Lime Rock is a fun track, been there about 8-10 times, but like mentioned there are too many places to screw up and very little run-off room. Newbs will definitely end up in the trees unless reined in. You do not want the car sideways when you enter "The Uphill"
.
The concierge was very helpful and friendly.
