Sport Seat owners - bolsters

For all you sport seat owners, do you have certain methods of getting in and out of the car to avoid stress on bolsters?

If so please share thanks!

On my C63S and on my wife's 2012 C63, I have taken to programming preset button 3 to pull the seat back significantly. When I prepare to exit the vehicle, I press button 3. It moves the seat well back and I step out of the car with no trouble.

When I enter the car, I press button 3 (in case my wife has driven the car). Again, the seat moves far back allowing me easy entry. Once seated, I press button 1 and the seat moves to my preferred driving position.

This is one of the few features I miss from my CTS-V. It would move the seat back automatically when you parked and turned off the ignition. It also had ventilated seats, but I still wouldn't trade either of my C63s for it ;-).

I wore out the bolster badly in my 2012 C63.

In the new W205 C63S, to avoid the wear, I am now using "the old man" entry.

Open the door, turn to face the outside, plunk my rear end on the seat and than turn my torso and swing the legs into the car.

I'm late on this thread, but that above is exactly what I've been doing from the very beginning with my C204 and also go to the trouble of manually moving the seats in my other non-auto seat feature cars and careful ingress and egress from the car

I believe it has contributed considerably to the excellent seat condition of my coupe's front seats as per comments on the other thread on this topic, my drivers seat bolsters still look like new after 3.5 years and nearly 70,000km of usage.

On another note regarding care of your leather seats my recommendation to everyone after having owned leather seated cars for decades and tried many maintenance applications on them is to NOT ever use any kind of product/s on them for cleaning or maintenance !

Simply use a clean cotton terry cloth with clean filtered or distilled water if the need ever arises to clean them, you only need to vacuum with a soft brush head or simply wipe with a dry aforementioned soft cloth for general cleaning.

I have an 11 year old car with OEM leather Recaros looked after in that fashion from day 1 and they still look and feel almost brand new, having had many others to which I've applied and used all manner of leather care products has actually softened, weakened and deteriorated them by contrast, not to mention some products give them an undesirable slippery surface.

This +1000

I call this maneuver the "robot." If you couple this with moving the seat all the way to the back, you will be able to avoid scraping against the thigh and rib bolstering.

This is exactly the method of entry I use on my W204 C63 (which has quite possibly the most heavily bolstered standard car seats of all time).

Exit/Entrance Procedure for Avoiding Bolster Wear

1. Move seat all the way back before getting out (save this position to memory).

2. Lift left leg up and over the bolster, placing left foot on the ground as you use the right hand on the top of the steering wheel to push yourself up and out of the car.

3. Open the door, turn to face the outside, plunk your rear end on the seat and then, turn your torso and swing the legs into the car. (Thanks to Pit-Pony for articulating this step perfectly)

4. Move seat to driving position.
