Hi guys

Well I just spent an hour reading this thread so I could ask more informed questions than ones that have been answered a million times for people not using the search function so far it seems these cars are pretty reliable without any major issues, though some seem to have experienced some heads issues and then more recently about coolant hoses failing because of touching the engine. I am looking at a 2018 C63s with 30k miles on it local to me. I am new to AMGs but am familiar with driving more performance oriented vehicles vs ones that are smooth rides all the time. The car I was looking at I checked to see if a local Mercedes dealership would do a PPI and they declined, I was shocked but have recently discovered a lot of dealerships don't do them anymore. Are there any questions I should ask that could save me headaches down the road? In general I don't care about paying for maintenance, but any pitfalls that would pass the 10k cost point would suck.

The 2 photos below are part of the MB multi point inspection report. You could print it out and have a qualified Indy complete the inspection report which should give you some indications as to the condition of the car. As you can see my Inspection report listed the rear brakes were at 3mm and when they reach 2mm it will trigger the Check Brake pads light and need to be replaced. The Front rotors/brakes are expensive to replace. The rear not as bad.

Awesome, thank you so much! Out of curiosity how much is it to replace the front pads/rotors? I'm assuming something similar to my RS3 which was just under 2k, the car I'm looking at just has steel brakes and not CCBs

My 2019 C63s coupe (purchased new) when it reached 16,548 miles the Check Brake Pad warning light came on. I needed it done right away. I believe the MB Dealership said bring it in the next day which I did. The total: parts and labor was $2,702.40.
Many on the Forum use FCP Euro for brake components. Currently I see the FCP Euro the entire rear brake kit goes for $650.00 and for the front rotors go for $481.99 each. They have benefits to using their products.

Awesome thank you so much. That is really helpful info! So seems about on par with the cost of maintaining an Audi or my old M3. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something crazy. Lol in the words of 1 of my friends "Nothing can randomly eat up 5k like a German luxury auto" I'll definitely ask about the brakes, although I'm assuming if yours needed to be replaced by 16k they've already been done and are probably now getting to the point of needing to be done again. Anything else you've run into that might be popping up soon at 30k miles?

My 4 year old 2019 C63s coupe went in for the B Service April 3, 2023 with 24,055 miles. Besides the B Service one of the "recommendations" is to replace the rear rotors (wear) and brakes which have 4-5mm left. Cannot remember the exact price but it was right at $2,000. Inflation has really driven up prices including at the MB Dealership. I did not have the recommendation done and will most likely order the rear kit from FCP Euro for $650.36 in the very near future. I had the rear rotors and brakes replaced at 17,993 miles. So doing the math, MB recommending new rear rotors and brakes after only 6,062 miles. I brought this up with the SA but to no avail.

According to the MB Scheduled/Required worksheet and as it pertains to your 2018 AMG with 30,000 miles:
1.. Replace Engine air filters 3 years/30,000 miles
2. Replace rear axle differential oil 3 years/30,000 miles
3. Replace brake fluid 4 years/40,000 miles
4. Replace dust filter and fine particle filter 4 years/40,000 miles
4. Replace spark plugs 5 years/50,000 miles

Awesome thanks man! I see you're in NYC. I'll be there Thursday for work, staying by LGA. If you're around I'd buy you a drink! Least I could do

21’ C63
21’ C63 review

Just bought my 21’ C63 a few months ago, just hit 9K miles on it. So far things I’ve noticed;
-if I put sunglasses in the holder overhead the rattling at low speeds drives me absolutely crazy. It’s almost embarrassing honestly.
- somewhat expected but yes the transmission can get jerky at low speeds also.
- no oil issues but did get a low coolant warning which was resolved by simply adding a bit more, no sign of leaks anywhere however.
- the car was clearly made to drive on nice long stretches of road so no surprise most issues come with low everyday traffic speeds.
- no complaints with performance as it always puts a smile on my face when I hear the sounds it can make with no effort.
- I wouldn’t say it was a “quick” car, but it shines on those top ends.
- this is actually my first RWD coming from only AWD vehicles I’ve had so I’m still slowly testing its behavior and capability on those spirited turns. ( I don’t want to end up like those mustang people and wrap it around a tree because of my incompetence to handle it)
- lastly the damn brake dust this thing makes is crazy. I’m starting to hate these black wheels. I can’t go more than a week before I need a full wheel cleaning.

The whole car shutting off at a stop drives me nuts! Yeah it definitely shifts a bit hard at lower speeds for what I was expecting which is saying something considering I've driven plenty of built trans GTRs lol.

Agreed on the black wheels and dust. The wheels were black when I left 500 miles ago. Yes I know its a lot of road dust too, but the wheels do get dirty!

I bought my C63S brand new in November of 2018. I just turned over 36,000 miles and an seeing serious issues. The car has two serpentine belts and over day out of the blue they both shredded and destroyed a pulley. Now a month or so later My number 1 cylinder coil went out. This is a known issue that Mercedes isn't telling anyone until you take it in. The could are now warrantied until 2030i believe. Now they are telling me the car is revving weird when braking. Oh and I had the rear differential replaced for to the known electronic rear diff CEL that appeared at less than 10,000 miles. Needles to say I'm getting rid of it and will never purchase another Mercedes. This is my 2nd AMG and 4th Mercedes. Pure garbage and the Colorado Springs Mercedes service center is the most inept I've ever seen. I had the wheels aligned and now the steering wheel is farther off center.

2020 C63s coupe
1. Not loud enough ( with downpipes, no mufflers, and stage 2 tune, still not loud enough )
2. rev limitter ( PORQUEEE )
actual problems
1. Windows squeak a lot
2. stock breaks squeak a ****ing lot
3. Aggressive even in comfort and feels super jittery ( I have 12k miles on a 2020 C63s )
4. I hear a rattling noise after getting downpipes
I saw someone post about their sunglasses in the overhead compartment, I'm gonna check that and see if thats the issue but it happens in ideal too.
5. low oil message ( I added a quart though just to be sure and message went away )
6. stock tires are kind of *** need 305 4S's

Has anyone else experience leaking shocks? I just discovered my front shocks are leaking at 15,000. I was very surprised by how quickly they gave out. Anyone know cost to replace?

i also have a rattling noise after a full aftermarket exhaust I think it might be imperfect fitment, or an exhaust clamp was not tightened fully.

Looks like FCP no longer have those parts or prices? I am pretty sure I need rear pads, is the concensus here to change both front and rear out with kits for the blackseries? (i have a 2016 c63s)

My rear shocks blew at 18,000 miles. Replaced under warranty at the dealer where I purchased the vehicle. Needless to say they are leaking again!! First time around I crawled under and verified the shocks were replaced and were shiny new. 3 oil changes later the rears are puking again. I have yet to take it in. But it seems like this is an issue with the current part number supplied by AMG. In other words they’re garbage.

A 2018? So a 4/50K warranty? How much time is left, if any, on the factory warranty? Ask to speak with the SA at the dealership you will be taking it to for any work, if not through an independent. Rule #1? Be REALLY nice to the SA. He/she can be your best friend or worse enemy going forward. Ask him to look up any service and or maintenance records for you. They will NOT tell you who the previous owner(s) were, but they can tell you if there's any gotchas that called for repeat visits for one item. Like constant (or several) alignments. Any ******* electrical gremlins. Understand? The other big thing is to tell you EXACTLY when the warranty ends. It may not be when the car was first titled. You need to know when it was originally put into service. That is your warranty start date. Next, get a carfax and an auto check. Compare the two. See where it 'lived' during the last several years. This will tell you if it might have been exposed to salt up north or possible flooding down south.

The big one: take it out for a test drive. TEST DRIVE IT! Punch it! Get it up on the highway at your speed and feel the car. Next, when safe to do so, slap on the brakes. Make sure it stops properly and stays in a straight line. Also, if the tires aren't new, check the rear inside edge of the tires. It's a negative camber thing. Last thing. Check EVERY function on the car. Every function. Even the heat button...

I have the same issue on going from 3rd to 4th in race mode. In my circumstance it seems to be most pronounced when it's shifting on slight uphill portion of the track. I wonder if there is any service bulletin out there addressing it. Going to a shop or dealer and trying to explain the issue seems futile without the help of system bulletin.

Anyone can suggest a quick fix? Don't really want to go back to the dealer for this.
