Common problems with the W205 AMG C63
Well I just spent an hour reading this thread so I could ask more informed questions than ones that have been answered a million times for people not using the search function
so far it seems these cars are pretty reliable without any major issues, though some seem to have experienced some heads issues and then more recently about coolant hoses failing because of touching the engine. I am looking at a 2018 C63s with 30k miles on it local to me. I am new to AMGs but am familiar with driving more performance oriented vehicles vs ones that are smooth rides all the time. The car I was looking at I checked to see if a local Mercedes dealership would do a PPI and they declined, I was shocked but have recently discovered a lot of dealerships don't do them anymore. Are there any questions I should ask that could save me headaches down the road? In general I don't care about paying for maintenance, but any pitfalls that would pass the 10k cost point would suck.

Many on the Forum use FCP Euro for brake components. Currently I see the FCP Euro the entire rear brake kit goes for $650.00 and for the front rotors go for $481.99 each. They have benefits to using their products.

Awesome thank you so much. That is really helpful info! So seems about on par with the cost of maintaining an Audi or my old M3. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something crazy. Lol in the words of 1 of my friends "Nothing can randomly eat up 5k like a German luxury auto" I'll definitely ask about the brakes, although I'm assuming if yours needed to be replaced by 16k they've already been done and are probably now getting to the point of needing to be done again. Anything else you've run into that might be popping up soon at 30k miles?
According to the MB Scheduled/Required worksheet and as it pertains to your 2018 AMG with 30,000 miles:
1.. Replace Engine air filters 3 years/30,000 miles
2. Replace rear axle differential oil 3 years/30,000 miles
3. Replace brake fluid 4 years/40,000 miles
4. Replace dust filter and fine particle filter 4 years/40,000 miles
4. Replace spark plugs 5 years/50,000 miles

-if I put sunglasses in the holder overhead the rattling at low speeds drives me absolutely crazy. It’s almost embarrassing honestly.
- somewhat expected but yes the transmission can get jerky at low speeds also.
- no oil issues but did get a low coolant warning which was resolved by simply adding a bit more, no sign of leaks anywhere however.
- the car was clearly made to drive on nice long stretches of road so no surprise most issues come with low everyday traffic speeds.
- no complaints with performance as it always puts a smile on my face when I hear the sounds it can make with no effort.
- I wouldn’t say it was a “quick” car, but it shines on those top ends.
- this is actually my first RWD coming from only AWD vehicles I’ve had so I’m still slowly testing its behavior and capability on those spirited turns. ( I don’t want to end up like those mustang people and wrap it around a tree because of my incompetence to handle it)
- lastly the damn brake dust this thing makes is crazy. I’m starting to hate these black wheels. I can’t go more than a week before I need a full wheel cleaning.

Agreed on the black wheels and dust. The wheels were black when I left 500 miles ago. Yes I know its a lot of road dust too, but the wheels do get dirty!

Get it up on the highway at your speed and feel the car. Next, when safe to do so, slap on the brakes. Make sure it stops properly and stays in a straight line. Also, if the tires aren't new, check the rear inside edge of the tires. It's a negative camber thing. Last thing. Check EVERY function on the car. Every function. Even the heat button...
