2017 MB GLC63s Will be 9speed plus 612HP! WTF
It was only a month ago when Mercedes-AMG introduced the GLC 43 which will temporarily serve as the range-topping version of the compact crossover. The prototype you see here looks virtually the same as the GLC 43, but under the hood it swaps the biturbo 3.0-liter V6 engine for a larger 4.0-liter V8, also with a biturbo setup.
You’d think the engine is sourced from the C63, but that’s not the case. That is because at the end of last month we learned from Mercedes-AMG boss, Tobias Moers, the crown jewel of the GLC 63 will actually use the E63’s hardware . That’s certainly good news if we take into account the forthcoming 2017 E63 S will have an insane 612 horsepower (450 kilowatts) and 626 pound-feet (847 newton meters) of torque. Maybe the beefiest model of the GLC range won’t be as potent, but rest assured it will have well over the 510 hp (375 kW) of the C63 S.
Also sourced from the new E63 AMG will be the nine-speed automatic transmission linked to an all-wheel-drive 4MATIC system developed from the ground up by Mercedes-AMG. Moers has promised the AWD layout has been engineered in such a way as to allow drift and provide that rear-wheel-drive feel.
It’s too soon to talk about performances, but obviously it will be way faster than the GLC 43 which hits 60 mph (96 kph) in 4.8 seconds and tops out at an electronically-limited 155 mph (250 kph). With the E63 S believed to cover the sprint in just three and a half seconds, the GLC 63 S is going to be an absolute rocket.
Look for an official launch of the GLC 63 at the beginning of 2017, with the GLC 63 Coupe to follow shortly.

At the engine, HP and TQ quoted numbers from manufacturers are rarely if ever stated at the wheels.
There is already info mentioned in other threads about the new MCT 9spd and 600+hp arriving in the new E Class AMG's here's hoping we see the same combination passing over to the mid life updated or latter production C class AMG's (ie. sedan and coupe) - this is what I've always stated I'm hanging in and waiting for

Facelifts are usually more cosmetics

The 204 series mid life update brought about a major raft of mechanical as well as cosmetic updates and these continued until the tail end of the model series run, it was however more so with the basic cooking models than the AMG's.
The 205 series AMG's will definitely have more to come mechanically, a 9spd MCT, power upgrade and possible (fingers crossed) AWD option are already if they all eventuate a substantial upgrade
Cosmetically a lot of people would want more/new wheel choices to choose from, this is what I'm hearing from a lot of current customers not so happy with the wheel choices currently on offer on the new 205 AMG's, also historically mid life body styling updates tend to look better than the initial release all worth looking forward to

That would really **** a lot of AMG owners, BMW M is very careful when it comes to things like that I see opposite in AMG. Is it a desperation move? I guess it is, imagine GT-S owners who sank lump sump of money in their cars and now AMG rolls out more powerful C63 and GLC on par with E63. Just doesn't make sense, no wonder why their cars depreciate so badly.

Meanwhile, BMW M is too busy creating fake engine noises to create a some sort driving experience. AMG's depreciate significantly because of the way Mercedes handles their pricing. Nothing to do with engines.

Anyone have any insight into the price of the GLC63? (not the GLC63S) Or an educated guess based on comparable price lift from 43 to 63 on other models?

Very interesting! So what's gonna happen to the GLE63? I cant see selling a 2017 GLC63s with 612HP against the more expensive 2017 GLE63 and GLE63s making 550 and 577HP?

can't wait to get the details on the GLC 63/63s coupe (more practical). deciding between one of those and the C63(63s) coupe (less practical, but I am obsessed with this car right now).

I can understand the reason for the C43 (people needing 4 matic for weather conditions etc).
But other models don't make too much sense
