why only 67 hp increase with tune?

Surprised by the small increase in hp, especially considering w204 increase of 47 hp with a tune.
I'd expect bigger increase in a turbo engine vs a NA engine.
Where is the bottleneck in the w205?
Or is it just overly conservative tuning?

Not really worth the money for the small increase.
I guess it will fall in line with the w204 tune prices in the near future.

lol 67hp is massive how much HP do you think a Ferrari gains when tuned?

how much are you expecting 200hp?

Depends what you believe to be the correct factory numbers.
Renntech says factory claim 503 but it is really 545 and after their tune it is 601 for a increase of 56HP at the crank.
Others vary some.

paramb,
67whp increase on our cars (12-16% over stock) from tune alone is very good. You have to realize that on most cars, the bottleneck is often the exhaust because of how restrictive emissions are. I am fairly certain that most cars wont get you more than 16% with just a tune. M3 f80 only got about 50whp from a tune. Heck my GTR (one of the most mod friendly cars) only gets 40-60 whp from just a tune. Most cars require intake and exhaust mods with tune to really get the big numbers.

Got it. You make some good points. With dps and intake it does make a big difference.

Keep in mind, too, the W204 C63 was "de-tuned" from the factory compared to the R230 or W211 cars. The "gains" from a tune-only upgrade on those cars was far less, and more in line with what you seem to be expecting from an NA/Turbo comparison.

This is true - a good set of catless downpipes should add an additional 25-30 HP/TQ to the wheels on top of a tune.

Renntech's tune alone makes 517 WHP and 565 WTQ (up from 469 WHP and 473 WTQ stock) -- An increase of 48 WHP and 92 WTQ:

Weistec's tune with catless downpipes and air filters (note: this is on 91 octane, not 93 which would yield a bit more power) makes 545 WHP and 566 WTQ (up from 472 WHP and 458 WTQ stock) - an increase of 73 WHP and 108 WHP on 91 octane.

This is pretty incredible power for basic bolt-ons and low-grade pump gas! If you look at the F80/F82 M3/M4 platform, no one is safely making over 500 WHP without using some kind of octane booster (ethanol or water/meth injection). To get these kind of numbers on pump gas is very impressive, and it leaves the door open for high-octane tunes on E85 mixes or race gas. It's quite possible the M177 will be approaching close to 600WHP with full bolt-ons and a tune optimized for ethanol blends/race gas.

Don't forget that the turbos are relatively small to provide quick response. This is always a trade-off. Big power requires big turbos, but big turbos have more lag.

It will be interesting to see whether the new E63s uses the same turbos as our C63s or if AMG has to use larger turbos to get the rumored 600+ HP.

If the E43 AMG uses larger turbos than the C43 AMG with the same 3.0 V6 TT, it would be surprising if the E63 doesn't come with slightly larger turbos as well.

If the turbos in the C63 are already maxing out somewhere over 600 HP with just a tune, I don't think the E63 will be able to make its rumored HP consistently and reliably using the same small-sized turbos. I'm hoping this is the case as it'll enable us C63 owners to do factory turbo upgrades!

These new E63's are going to be beasts with AWD. No doubt they will be deep into the 11's bone stock and tapping 10's with a pump gas tune. All speculation of course, but I have high expectations for it -- especially since it will be coming standard with the same rear suspension setup in the C63 Coupe with the wider track, as opposed to the narrow setup in the C63 Sedan.

This. We see a lot of discussions about "hp" and forget that there is a difference between "BHP" and "WHP."
