Not necessarily. First well should confirm that the OEM weight mentioned above is accurate. Then you also take into account a wheel's durability, styling, and freedom of customization. Just for the sake of conversation - you can purchase a 19" wheel off ebay that is manufactured in China and weights 16 lbs but will it last over the first pothole you hit?

I would say that is correct for the most part. The only advantage of going with the flow form wheels in this case is if the styling appeals to you much more than the stock wheels. Otherwise the stock wheels are better in terms of being lighter in weight and also being forged wheels compared to the HRE flow form wheels being cast. I think if you are going to go HRE you need to step up and get a normal forged wheel.

Here was my data from when i swapped my wheels.
Stock (mb multi spoke with vredestien wintrax)
Front 48.3 lbs 245/35/19
Rear 49.4 lbs 255/35/19
VFF103 vorsteiner (midnight black w/stock Dunlop sportmax)
Front 44.4 lbs . 245/35/19
Rear 48.5 lbs 265/25/19

Tire weight between the two applications probably differs too - so hard to say specifically.

I have measured my Mandrus Rotec with Nokian Hak 8's studded tires versus stock wheel with Michelin PSS and they weren't far off... and the winter tires have lots of studs!
