Finding my C63s Sedan

Okay, so I've made my mind up on a car and after a lot of research, shopping, driving and pondering, I'm going with a new C63s Sedan. It fits my family of fine just fine when I need, gives that luxury feel with super fun performance.

Now the fun part - trying to find one. I'd REALLY like to find one already built as close to what I'm looking for as possible, but alas I'm having a little trouble.

I'd like to look at the national database, but according to MBUSA (via chat), they do not have access to a national db, but a dealer would.

Seems like all I would have to do is go to a dealer, give them my list of what I want and there we go....but here's the thing. I don't necessarily trust them. I know that they would need to "trade" cars with another dealer, so I don't know if they would even tell me what is out there and if they find something that is, say, on the other side of the country (which I'm willing to deal with) I don't know if they would even tell me.

So what to do? I've thought about putting my specs into a few dealers in my area and see what they come back with, or even going to a dealer and offering the sales associate some cash if they find my car (and it's still available) at another dealer.

Any ideas? Or do I bite the bullet and order? But what am I looking at for time?

Fyi, I'm in NorCal near Sacramento and basically want the car as loaded as possible (less a few options).

Well my dealer preferred to get something under their allocation, but they were fine trading with another dealer (and showed me what's available) to get an earlier build slot after realizing it would take way longer and me losing interest.

It should be fine, and don't lock yourself to one dealer, play that to your advantage.

Go on autotrader and look at all of the c63 s available. Check each one for the options. Some times the listing does not provide all of the options but it will tell you which dealership the car is located. Go on the dealership website to check the options.

If you find a car and it is far away, call the dealership directly to negotiate and take a ride to get the car. Otherwise the cost to flatbed the car to a dealership close to you will be worked into the price, which will mean you will pay more.

Good Luck!

My dealer looked across the entire U.S for me and input every option I wanted. They preferred not to pull one from California but were willing to do it (I'm in DC). My suggestion, go directly to the service dept and ask a few service questions about the C63. If the rep knows what they are talking about ask them who the best person is to work with in sales. It has worked for me.
If you are at all unhappy during your experience get up and go to another dealer. It's not worth the hassle.

You can search inventory yourself although it is a bit tedious. Go to the MB USA website and do a dealer search based on zip code. Then search dealer inventory for each listed dealer.

I did this for my wife's 2012 C63 and my 2015 C63s. In 2012, when I lived in NorCal, I found a car optioned the way I wanted in SoCal. I called the dealer, negotiated a deal and had the car delivered for an extra $300.

For my C63s, I found the car I wanted in South Carolina (I am in NC now). Again, I called the dealer, made my deal by phone and drove my trade-in down and my new car back home.

In both cases, it took me several hours of plugging in zip codes and going dealer by dealer. But it was no problem as I just sat in a comfortable chair, put on some music and went to work.

Good luck

I"ve been doing this - as well as the aforementioned idea of going on Autotrader, then searching the dealer's website. This, however is only as good for the dealers posting on Autotrader. I will keep looking and then when I'm ready, call and work with the dealer.

Thanks for all the help!

Wait, you said you're buying new? You can just order one then!

100% the way you like (well technically less than that since there's always the small chance someone messes up your order.....).
