Secondary Cat delete on C63s Perf Exhaust
Hi anyone here deleted the resonator on the Performance exhaust system of 63s. Any improvement or does it make it loud? Any experience losing power/torque or drone. I know downpipes is the way to go for louder exhaust note am not just ready to pull down the Trannie. Appreciate inputs. Thank you

Good question- Ill say this; on my M157 engines, pulling the resonator gave me about 20% more sound at WOT but not really any drone and no loss in power. I do think a resonator removal on the C63S with the PE would be a nice add to an already strong exhaust system.

I might be looking at this route to begin with and if I'm not happy will end up going all out and doing the DP and the tune at the same time.

Hey Sanch let me know when you do it. am not so familiar with the exhaust system, so when you remove the resonator are they being replaced with straight or X pipe

Ps: Secondary cats on this car is at the end of the down pipe and not the x pipe from what I'm told.

On all my resonator removals (2010 E55, 2012 CLS63, 2012 E63, 2012 C63BS, and 2013 SL63) I went with straight pipes. I havent been under my C63S yet but hear that there is an H pipe already there (could be X) so ill consider only a straight pipe once I review it.

Hey, they are cutting/ deleting the resonator.... If you want after that you can add a straight or x pipe but that involves changing the exhaust. I like the performance exhaust, just feel its way too restricted from the down pipes. Deleting secondary cats will help the sound.

When said PE that was short for Performance Exhaust and WOT is short for wide open throttle or basically mashing it!!!!
I'm a little bummed there is no resonator because I want just a bit more sound from the car but there is no way I'm going aftermarket or even dp's at this juncture. Its just really good already so its just time to rip her.

To clarify, the sound reduction in the standard W205 C63/S is:
turbos -> primary cats -> secondary cats -> valved h-pipe -> rear mufflers (valved on performance exhaust)
Options to make louder are to remove one or both cats and/or the rear mufflers. Because of the turbo adding silencing, removing the secondary cats on the W205 is akin to removing the resonator on the W204 (which went primary cats -> secondary cats -> resonator -> rear mufflers)

so he is saying the second cat is just a res? hmm i might just need to visit an exhaust shop to be sure here. from reading this forum people were saying there was no res on these cars now.

I'd be surprised by that. Most modern cars have two stages of cat, with the second being for cold start emissions. These secondary cats are usually a lot less dense so they can get to operating temp quicker.
