How is the Burmester sound system?
It it may just be how your shop does their installs.
What is your setup? And yes, subjective....
I need to spend more time tuning, but it's great so far...
I need to correct time alignment and mid bass.
Audison Prima 8.9 DSP Amp OEM Integration Unit
12" JL Audio sub in trunk
Audison 540 Watt mono amp for the sub
Nothing else was touched
With the above we still could not get any bass. Long story short it turned out that there really isn't any bass signal coming out of the Burmester DSP so you have to "fake a bass". My wife's Ranger Rover Sport had the exact same issue. The solution:

Night and day difference now!
However the post from kdoyle totally confuses me.
He explains there isn't any bass output from dip.
Is Epicenter necessary?
I'm going to drop by the shop this week and try to figure out what is up.

I finally got around to taking it back to the installer last week and as luck would have it they had just completed a training session with JL on their Fix 82 processor. Evidently a recent software update completely changed how it worked (for the better). My installer previously had nothing but bad luck with them. Now they work amazing.

Long story short - I had them start over from scratch but this time with the JL Fix as the starting point. Now I have massive bass with no need for the Epicenter. Everything is crystal clear and it went from a what I would say was a 3 on a 10 scale to 10/10! So as the blog mentioned in this thread and others have said.....the JL Fix 82 should be your required starting point in upgrading the Burmester system. I still can't get over the difference it made.
I'm asking since I'm interested in buying a C63S coupe and I need tight bass for my tunes. I hate muffled weak bass.

My tech did all this and I never asked for details.
Im sure everyone would appreciate it.
Im in the Auto Industry so didn't pay any where near that much.
Got to love Industry discount.
I'm getting the secondary cat mod next week after hearing it for myself last weekend.....can't wait!

Just at Willowbank atm waiting to get to the front of the line for another run down the quarter...
Paying nearly $100k for a car should get you a good stereo IMO. I love to hear the exhaust roar during spirited driving but I enjoy listening to my tunes when I'm cruising. The Burm in the 911 TT sounds pretty amazing from what I hear. It's worthwhile $4k option IMO.
I will be getting my new '17 c63 convertible in a week or two, first thing will be to take it to my audio guy. Will follow the approach described, except I can't imagine leaving all those speakers stock (he only upgrades a pair of 4 inchers and 2 tweeters, I believe, plus adding the sub). Since I already have a DSP, 4 4's and 2 tweeters, and 2 6's, as well as a sub and enclosure, most of my expense is just going to be swapping them out (from my current cars) and tuning, just guessing that will cost me about $2K. If I need an amp I have that already as well.
Nobody should be surprised or upset that the Burmeister isn't great - very, very few stock systems are, even when they are supposedly upgraded with a "name". The best I have had is the Marc Levinson in a Lexus SC430, the only car audio system I didn't think had to have an upgrade, although I have no doubt that it could have been substantially improved.
I don't think it was this thread, but another Burmeister thread, where some Mercedes fanboy gets his or her back up because....huff, huff... how could you improve on the 1000's of hours that Burmeister and Mercedes technicians spent on creating the best system for the car? What a joke. The answer is...(in this case) adding a DSP, a sub, and some better speakers. It's not that hard, although it can be expensive depending on your perspective on expensive. Hey, I just spent $80K on a car, I'm not going to get upset because I have to spend another $5K or so for sound I am happy with. Mercedes, or BMW, Audi, Porsche, or any other high end car manufacturer, aren't building cars for audiophiles, and probably 95% of the people buying high end cars do not care that much about audio.

I count:
1 front door speaker driver side
1 front door speaker passenger side
1 front center speaker
1 tweeter rear passenger door
1 mid rear passenger door
1 tweeter rear driver side door
1 mid rear driver side door
2 rear shelf
TOTAL = 9 speakers
I don't see anything else? Am I missing something? I'm not seeing the 2 floor based front subwoofers and my front doors only have 1 speaker.
