Dinan looking for a 4.0L turbo

That said, once you're ready to give a review, it's extremely beneficial to the community to give objective benchmarks, like 0-60 (for what its worth), dyno numbers (for what its worth), and better yet 1/4 mile times, and EVEN better, 1/4 mile times with the datalogs! Butt dyno's and "first impressions" are completely useless, and even deceiving.
GOOD LUCK!

OK, let me preface this with a few things:
1. I currently have a pre-production electronics harness in my engine bay, so Dinan has asked me to wait about 2-3 weeks until they can get the production electronics and harness on my car, before I start taking pictures of the engine bay.
So you get pictures of me this morning picking up my car at Dinan.

Still something odd picking up a tuned MB from Dinan. But you're looking at the first C63S tuned by 'em!
2. During these 2-3 weeks, I'll be putting my C63S through it's paces, and providing feedback to them with regards to the tune. As the tune isn't completely finalized, they've asked me to hold off on posting the dyno sheet. But I'm allowed to discuss it.
With that out of the way...
I have a dyno sheet that has same-day/same-conditions dyno pulls of my C63S: stock, and with tunes. The current Dinan tune has an incredible increase in torque across the entire RPM range, moreso than my previous tune. Peak numbers are in general vicinity of each other, significantly more than stock. It's the Dinan's torque curve, that's amazing. There's so much area under the Dinan torque curve vs. stock beginning around 2250rpm all the way up to 4750. I've broken the rear loose in 4th just punching the throttle.
Peak hp is in the same vicinity, but again the area under the curve is very nice looking. I definitely want to post the dyno sheet, and will once given the OK by Dinan. Suffice it to say, it's empirical proof that the Dinan tune is no joke.
When I get around to it, hopefully this weekend, I'll try to get a few performance numbers via my Torque app and OBDII scanner.

I don't have information on pricing and availability besides "imminent" once they've got the production hardware in. Pricing-wise, I'd guess somewhere in the ballpark of their current Dinantronics offerings that are warranty-covered and CARB legal?

Which is more important anyways... But I'm surprised at that, to be honest. As someone mentioned earlier, Dinan is notorious for extremely low/conservative power gains. I might actually consider them if those are the expected numbers... That said, maybe it'll retail at $3500 + installation.

wow, sounds impressive thus far. this is indeed good news!. definitely watching this how it turns out. If the torque curve is more "linear" across the band with the Dinan unit that's what folks should be looking for.

Pretty much. Dinan stands by their Dinantronics Performance tunes with the mirrored factory warranty. Anything the factory won't cover, they will. And even if you are out of the factory warranty, they've got a 2-year unlimited miles warranty after that.
The cheaper Dinantronic Sport tunes don't have this warranty.

You: Dinan.....dealer has to rebuild my engine, cost is $20,000, they say they cannot warranty the repair due to your tuner.
Dinan: No problem sir, can we PayPal you the $20,000?
riiiiight. In a perfect word. Lol

It will be a piggyback. Dinan stopped flash tunes years ago when ECU's became too difficult to decrypt/unlock. Their piggyback is not like a traditional piggy like Rebellion, it's probably more similar to what Performmaster offers:

I contacted them about this PEC tuning module but they do not sell to the United States unfortunately.

Yes. Tunes are divided in two categories: ECU/flash or piggyback. Either you're programming the ECU directly, or you're modifying the signal going to/from the ECU with a "piggyback" ECU.
The Dinan one will be an in-house developed piece of hardware, with their own molded case and circuitry. I was shown the prototype case, which will be similar to one of their other non-BMW Dinantronic Performance offerings.

Um, actually, it's a lot like that. When I had >$10k worth of work to be done to my bimmer with Dinan installed, the BMW service manager said "Don't worry about it, we'll just get the work done and get your car back to you, and we'll work with Dinan to see who pay for what" and that was the end of it.

If I recall Dinan deals directly with about 200 BMW dealers nationwide, roughly about 50% of them that exist. No all dealerships will want to deal with aftermarket stuff, at the end of the day it is up to the dealer if they want to engage. Same logic will apply to MB, the difference here is that Dinan will need to cultivate dealers organically on this side and build it up. Im sure they did the same type of thing 25 years ago or whatever on the BMW side. Fact is, Dinan is known for their warranty and will step up should something arise. In fact I know first hand that when I had my BMW with Dinan stuff on it, there wasn't a dealer who sold their stuff within 100 miles. They directed me to the closest one for diagnostic work, the dealer did the diagnostic stuff for me and Dinan worked it out with them.. Now they are a Dinan dealer . Just my 2 cents based on experience

That's true...I guess we'll have to see what happens... I'd expect Dinan to hold up their end though -- I feel like their entire business model relies on it haha.
