Ceramic Coating Cat Converters???

Just received my Vibrant Gesi 7830 cat converters and was wondering if I can get these ceramic coated.

And has anyone had experiences with these cats?

Will be getting them fitted to my downpipes soon.

This is the brief from the supplier:

Our converter features a 300 Cell substrate. However, there is more that affects flow than cell count. The most important aspect is the wall thickness of the substrate and the coating thickness. Our unique feature is that our substrate and coating combination is robust and comes in at 1/2 the thickness of the industry standard. Our proprietary coating applies 50% thinner, and endures higher heat applications. For these reasons the flow is virtually unaffected and horsepower loss is minimal. As a result of the coating, the degradation rates are much slower, while effectively reducing emissions.

Other converters feature a coated substrate that is held in place in a spun metallic body. This could be problematic because of the matting that holds the substrate in place often degrades in high heat applications (forced induction apps). The converter than becomes loose and will vibrate itself to death within the spun body. Our substrate has been furnace braised to the mantel and cannot breakdown at temperature, and is unaffected by the pressure and flow. This makes our GESI cats ideal in your application.

I'll try and get the tuner to do a dyno with the catless downpipes then again after the Vibrant Gesi cats are fitted to see what the difference in power and torque is.

Theres a couple of reasons why I decided to fit cats to my downpipes:

1. One of the possible tuners I'll be going to will only do a custom tune if vehicle is fitted with cats for legal reasons.

2. I'm worried about how loud it will be once downpipes are fitted as I have an AWE Track Edition exhaust fitted already so I'm hopping that they will quieten the raspiness down some.

3. I don't want to have to deal with any unpleasant smells from exhaust fumes and don't want to have to explain to people why my amg smells.

4. It's a good opportunity to test these Vibrant Gesi 7830 cats and their claims of minimal hp loss hence why I purchased these cats over $90 100 cel cats the local exhaust shop wanted to sell me.

5. And most importantly, I haven't told my wife that I'm tuning the car so 2&3 will aid in hiding the tune to a degree.

I know I will have to tell her at some stage but if the cars not sounding and smelling like a drag car it's just the power I need to explain which will be an easier conversation...

Babe, just changed the oil and air filters...lol

I'm happy to get some conversation going around this subject:

Cats vs Catless:

Brands experiences:

Power losses:
