NEW RELEASE: DINANTRONICS Elite (C63 / C63S)

You can totally disagree for your purposes assuming that you track the car a lot. For most folks that will not track either car, it's potentially a waste of money (relatively). If I were tracking anything, it'd be the 911 or other car that is more "track worthy". The C63 and the E63, are both too heavy.

I haven't been around much lately having been traveling and busy at work. Updates on this as I was one of the beta testers for the module, Initially, I picked it up back from Dinan and honestly forgot how lazy the car felt before the kit. I removed it for a month after having took the car in for warranty work, and when I put it on, it felt night and day difference. Now I have a straight pipe track exhaust by AWE combined with this, I will say, OMG I never drove a car that honestly I felt scared putting the pedal on the ground over 80mph, it still feels tail happy. If I wasn't someone that keeps trying to overdo something I would say this is more than enough power for everyday use, I can feel it possible to break the rear end at 50mph without any problem, it makes the car feel like it just lost 500 pounds on the rear end. I've never experienced a piggyback that did so much power improvement across the board. That's why they can charge a premium for a bolt on product that is reliable, does the work and is completely reversible.

We have a C63S Sedan and Cabriolet, one with the upgrade, one without. Seat of the pants dyno, the car is much faster, and pulls very hard. The jump in Torque makes a huge difference.

if your install is in a state that only has 91 octane, your Dinan box software is setup accordingly. HP and Torque for 91 octane would be slightly lower then the 93 octane dyno numbers. If I had access to a dyno, I would happily run it and post the numbers, My local installer didn’t have one.

Maybe Dinan could chime in here? Are you saying the boxes are either configured for 91 octane or 93 octane? What if you purchase from a vendor in CA (91) that ships to a 93 octane state? Is there a way to check to see if the box is configured for 93, or does it self adjust based on octane?
I would be interested in Dinan confirmation as well. If I go put a tank of 100 octane gas in, do I see the immediate benefit or is moot?

Alex, that was my guess, based on my experience with other tunes on my Audi where it has to be setup for a particular octane. But maybe that’s the difference between an ECU tune and a piggyback.

My gut tells me that gains with race gas would be negligible since it's not optimized for higher octane. But there may be some benefit in preventing knock and/or allowing the ECU to run a bit more timing.
I'm going to do a full write up soon, but I just installed the Dinan tune yesterday and tested it out today. I just did the AMG Academy course last weekend at COTA where I had the opportunity to lap the AMG GTR, GTS, and E63S and I can tell you with full confidence that with the Dinan tune, it feels every bit as fast as the new E63S. Out of all the cars I drove that day, the E63S pulled the hardest and I saw the highest top speed on the back straight. I managed 147 MPH in the E63S and 144-145 MPH in the GTR. I obviously have not done any performance testing, but I will be going to the drag strip soon to get some times. I would guess that low 11's at 126 MPH or is achievable assuming traction isn't an issue... and believe me, with all this added power and torque, second gear is all but useless unless you carefully modulate or roll into the throttle. Even rolling into boost in 3rd gear at low speeds will break the tires loose! Wider tires are definitely in order once the stock PSS's get to the end of their life.

We tune for 93 but being based in California we validate the tunes on 91 as well to make sure the vehicle doesn't knock and retains proper drivability. That said, the factory ECU's are very smart and essentially have built in "maps" for various octanes (a necessity for producing "world" cars where everywhere quality of fuel varies). The car will adjust timing to take advantage of increased octane in an effort to be as efficient as possible (same can be said for going down to 91 octane). It's not perfect by any means and each car is different but it will net increased power with additional octane. So in the case of putting in 100 octane--- the car will adjust its timing and net you another ~10-15HP or so on its own. A specific 100 octane tune could net you more (~20-25) but the factory ECU will still get you some additional power on its own.
