Wifi Hot Spot?

Just installed Blackvue 2ch cameras in my car and was setting up the cloud feature, but without success. Is the WiFi hot spot in our car only on when the ignition is on or is it on all the time? If is't not on all the time I might have to purchase a WiFi hot spot that is on all the time in order to access my cameras through the cloud.

Don't you have to pay for MB Connect to have Wifi activated?

Yes, thru the MercedesMe app, but I have a five-year complimentary service. The problem is that I can't connect to my dash cam or get notifications thru the cloud if I'm not on wifi. So the Wifi in the car is only good for sharing an internect connection with passengers while on the road. I will have to get a hot spot that is on all the time in the car so that my cameras are always connected to the cloud and I can check on my car while it's parked or get a notification if someone hits my car or is tampering with it. At&t Velocity 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hot Spot is what I'll be using.

I thought about doing the same however the battery on the hot spot unit can only lasts so long so you have to constantly recharge it. Thats the only thing keeping me from doing this.

The Hot Spot has a sleep mode and the battery life is about 10 hours if using continuously. I only plan on using it while I'm on shift when I drive my car to work. The parking deck I use to park is full of crazies

Gotcha. But I also misspoke earlier. In the US, the Wifi is available in the Mbrace ENTERTAIN package, which only has a 3 month complimentary service, $18/mo. thereafter. Not sure about other countries. The 5 year complimentary package is the Connect service. Another thought is that unless you plan on watching the live feed round the clock, it would seem that the parking mode function would work also? Which is more effective if the camera is wired to be always on. I'm sure you've thought of all this, but I throw it out there just in case.

Your 100% correct on the subscription and yes, I have a Cellink Dashcam Battery Pack hardwired to my car which gets charged when I drive and my cameras are attached to the battery pack and they are always on and it works great! I just wanted to use the cloud feature so I can check in on my car once in a while to make sure the beast is ok

It would be great if you could use one of those wireless home security cameras that you could easily mount in a somewhat hidden location to watch your car...... Might only be possible if you have a reserved spot though.....
Still need Wifi though if you want instant alerts.
