Porsche 911 Turbo
Looking at a coupe
Looking to pick up a 2017 Coupe, love the color. I am not new to Mercedes, but new to AMG lineup. The new coupes look substantially better than previous model.
Here is the build

It looks like the one for sale in Houston, on the surface it looks like a good deal. However it's a manufacturer buy back, I have no idea how they are valued, as buy backs do not conform to used car valuation norms.

LM - No I haven't looked at it. I'm also in the market for a C63S coupe and that one broadly fits my list of wants, however I can't get comfortable with a manufacturer buyback. The seller states that it was a simple transmission fix, but if it was that easy why didn't Merc fix it before they agreed to buy it back? Either way it looks like a great car.

If you don't plan on holding on to the car for a while, you will take a bath trying to resell this vehicle.
People and dealerships are going to be VERY cautious about buying a car with a blemished title.

As someone who has had a car bought back from the manufacturer, avoid a buyback like the plague, unless they give you a 150k / 10 year warranty and a screaming deal (like 60% off MSRP).
Buybacks never have “simple” fixes.
So to answer your question, you should pay about $40k out the door including the unattainable warranty mentioned above.

Good points. The car is priced high for blemished title. Doubt the dealer is going to let it go for much less than asking. Probably auction it off. Curious to know how much it would fetch at auction.

Not sure about a buyback, but generally looking at a lease return, I think you can expect dealers will pick up a car from auction anywhere between 10 and 20 percent less than their sales price.

If the title is not clean, you may never know the extent of the damage. Sure, it may be “fixed” now but at some point someone went through the hastls of making the dealer buy a beautiful car back, and then they went to sell it for 40k less. Tough to say that sounds a-OK but sometimes you find good deals, I guess it has to do with the risk you want to handle.
