Sketchy Detail Shop in Austin

I'm learning the hard way to be a more careful and not so trusting dealing with ANY place I drop my car off for any kind of service.

I took my C to these guys AustinDetailing on Friday to get PPF + Ceramic coating done. HUGE mistake, I will never use them again. If you live in Austin stay the hell away from these guys. I busted the guy joy riding in my car. I knew he had to take it to a place down the street, which I should have said NO to at this point...I live and learn.. He lied about where he had to take it and I caught him abusing it. Once I got a hold of him, I told him just cancel my service and got my car back the next day.

What is it with people that think this **** is OK? Be really careful out there guys, use your mbrace to setup alerts to track your car when dropping it for service. It may even make sense to tell them that you can track everything the car is doing....

Hell, I wouldn't even trust the valets at the old dealership I worked at. They were caught numerous times joyriding in cars while Snapchatting. I even found 2 of them drag racing behind the body shop on a Saturday afternoon. There is a reason why all the young kids like the sporty cars. Be very wary of who you trust with your kids, your cars, or your money.

I do not own a MB currently. This is all for research.
If in Austin. Look up a guy named Jack Bean with (owns) American Iconz Detailing. You can find him on FB easy enough. If you do, tell him Bill Hoch (me) sent you his way. I would trust him with any car I own. He will do you right.

He owns a Shelby with over 600 HP at the rear wheels and really will take care of your car. -- He's in Round Rock (I believe) Former Army guy. Will do a great job with your MB.

Yes. I don't post on here.. just read mostly as eventually I will trade in my 11 year old vette for something else and a sports coupe is finally starting to make sense to me.

But, in reality, don't take my word for it.. just talk with him, ask for references, etc..

sounds like you need a dash cam. I have one and it paid for itself when I caught a body shop continually revving my car. I am usually reasonable and will give the guy a rev or two but they did it multiple times over multiple days, even starting it just to rev the **** out of it. dash cams are cheap. it's also funny to listen to conversations of mechanics after they work on the car. sometimes my LTHs scare them on startup hahaha.

When you say you caught him abusing it, what exactly was he doing? And how did you catch him in the act? Just curious, I love seeing guys like this get caught.

Bespoke is FOR SURE the best place for PPF... but it's nowhere near AustinDetailing. I can second Jack Bean for the detail, or try Dust to Glory - he's on the higher end of the cost spectrum, but the quality is also second to none.

Thanks

Dave

It's funny, I had a similar situation just yesterday.

We alway park in Valet when going shopping and this time I was offered a car washing service.

I agreed to the wash and vacuum not thinking much about it.

When we jumped back back in the car the stereo was set to Media Interface when it was left on Bluetooth Audio when leaving the car at Valet.

When connecting back to BT the stereo nearly blew our ear drums out.

My cars fitted with a Thinkware F770 dashcam so I checked the recordings when I got home.

Low and behold, there's about 20 minutes of recordings missing.

Boot was popped and vacuumed then footage of the exterior getting high pressure hosed, Nek minute, the car is in a different location being dried...

Looks like the dashcam was turned off.

If that wasn't bad enough found three lots of scratches on the rear bar that I think were from the vacuum hose.

Lucky my my paint protection has a 9H hardness and I was able to polish out.

All i I can think is DODGY *****...

After a few reputable people on here vouched for Bespoke, the owner also calling me on the phone to apologize and clarified there not being a business relationship of any kind with AustinDetailing, I edited my original post to remove negative references to their shop. They are not business partners with AustinDetailing like I was told by AD. If you guys are looking to get PPF done, from what I've been told by others, Nate is the best guy in town. My experience and what had happened was not his fault.
