I wonder if the wipers for the 2019 models are the same?

Just got these in, going to clean my windshield today and then put these on to see if there’s any difference.

Anyone have a chance to try out the PIAAs with the correct adapter and notice any improvement? I still get significant chattering with the OEM blades...

Waiting to hear this as well. I put the Bosch blades on and it did not fix the issue of skipping.

I randomly tried Brillianize Plastic Cleaner on the windshield and it has reduced wiper skipping significantly. I received it with a Lucite
display case & tried it on my headlights & then the windshield.
I recommend cleaning windshield with glass cleaner first and then use the Brillianize. Doesn't take much to make the surface slick.
Not sure how often will have to reapply,.

I’m about to give up and pay someone to put a ceramic coating on the windshield and wipers and see if that helps.

I'd be careful about getting a ceramic layer just in case the skipping continues - it'll be very difficult to remove the coating. Any type of "sheeting" layer seems to be cause of the juddering (at least that's what is referenced in the TSB).

Yeah I’ve seen the TSB but the problem is that if the water just sheets, it’s hard to see even when the wipers are on and working. The water just stays on the windshield until it’s wiped off. At least with a coating I’d rarely even need the wipers in theory.

Thanks for the nudge. Just off the phone with them, and they now don't expect them until March 2019.
I am having pretty good luck with the Bosch Aero Twin wipers along with the Aquapel Glass Treatment. The wiper action is not perfect but I can say that for the most part, I am not thinking about them when they are on.

Eh, at this point one could assume they’re just not going to do it at all.

i will say the first couple times in the rain with my ‘19 and I noticed the blades really “grabbing” the glass. Very similar to what’s described here. I hadn’t seen the thread until now. Fortunately, it has improved markedly since, so not sure it’s related to this or simply a matter of “breaking in” the blades. I’m hoping the latter, for sure.

I’d bet, however, this is not a problem they’ve remedied.

Interesting - I'll have to give the AeroTwins a try. In my case, the aquapel made the chattering with the stock wipers much much worse...

Reporting back after a number of months - switched to the Aerotwins but the chattering is still there (though slightly less violent than the OE ones as the blade support is thicker). Can also confirm that Aquapel makes the issue worse. Very frustrating and dangerous.

Has anyone else been able to source different blades to fit the MB mounts or find a semi-effective solution?

There’s no fix as far as I know. Dealer even replaced a windshield on my C43 and it lasted for 2 rainy days and it started to do it again. Have the same issue with the C63 now. I think it’s the windshield itself, may be Mercedes applies some type of stupid coating to it idk

See the attached post from another forum. I have been using original Bon Ami in the red can for a long time. My GL blades haven't skipped since I used Bob Ami on them 2 years ago. And I have gone thru many car washes since, though never selecting the spray on wax. Also don't forget to wipe the blades off with isopropyl alcohol.

That’s cool but we’re talking C class here.

I’ve tried literally everything. Polishing, alcohol, multiple sets of different brands of wipers....nothing works.

Quite honestly I just try to ignore it, but it’s getting harder. This car has so many special quirks that are just downright annoying. Wipers that chatter, rattles in certain areas, door seals that creak like a 200 year old battleship....too much!

The only thing I’ve done with any moderate amount of reduction is that every wash I douse the windshield and wiper blades with Beadmaker. This works for about 1 trip in the rain, so if it’s raining multiple days in a row, I have to thoroughly clean the windshield and reapply Beadmaker after each day.

Thanks for the tip. I think that you may be right about some sort of coating on the windshields, or perhaps even something added to the MB washer fluid (the chattering stops for one swipe if I spray some on) - this may tie in to your observation JWreck.

I've just received C43 MY2020 and guess what, I have the same problem... At the beginning I thought it is nothing (meaning easy to solve), but after reading this thread I'm now a little bit scared...

That is ridiculous. You'd think "the best or nothing" engineers would have come up with a fix given about 5 years worth of time to ruminate on the problem...

It's most likely the problem lies in the combination of the rubber compound CoF and the wiper arm tension. I'm currently testing a fix and will report back after a bit.

I drove my 2019 C63S for the first time in rain (it's been a dry summer here in Northern California mostly) last week and I ran into a similar (or may be the same that is being discussed here?) wiper issue. The driver-side wiper doesn't move smoothly, it appears as if it's running into some friction either directly on the wiper blade pad or on the windshield.

I didn't drive long enough in the rain, and want to try out the wiper at different speeds to see if's a permanent or a one-time issue.

Yep. This will be what causes me to sell the car and not buy AMG again.
