2018 Buyers Remorse?

*Posted this over at the AMG PL too*

Help me out here guys. I take delivery of a 2018 C63s Sedan in two weeks. I've been looking over the Ordering Guide for the 2019 AMG C-Class vehicles, and I'm feeling pangs of regret for not waiting. There are some really great features in the 2019 update. While I like the grille update as well, I'm more concerned that my 2018 C63s will get mistaken from the front for a 2019 C43.

I'm sure I'll love my 18 C63s, but I'm also sure there will be a part of me that wonders what if I had instead got a 2019. I haven't mentioned anything to my dealer yet, and I'm not sure if anything could be done at this point even if I did want to wait.

Am I crazy?

Maybe you can pay a small penalty and pickup a 2019 instead? If you want to do that, better talk to your dealer quickly!

+1 on talk quickly

I am sure they will gladly upgrade you for a cost, if its not custom ordered

It is custom ordered, but I didn't pick any stylistic options that are too radical.

Your dealer will be happy to change your order to MY 19 if you're willing to wait and pay for it.

I'm willing to wait, but I'd rather not pay much extra beyond any additional sticker price. I got a hold of my dealer yesterday and was pretty much told "no dice." Car is scheduled to exit production on June 14th, so *fingers crossed* it should arrive early in the week after next.

I guess this is just a case where I'd have been better off not knowing what I was missing. I'm sure I'll still be thrilled with the 2018 C63s.

Other than the digital dash, larger screen and updated suspension with a wider range, there's not much else that caught my eye.

Also it comes with 9 speed. I like the 9 speed better than my current 7 speed.

Small feature upgrades, very minimal. The grill is nice but I feel like it's not optimized for the c class. I guess it depends how much you like the new look. Very happy with my '18

Just made the switch to the 2019. Not excited to wait for another six months, but in the grand scheme of things it's not a long time to wait for the vehicle and features that I really want.

I think you made the right decision - once the 19's come out, it will have an impact on the resale value of the pre-facelift models which was one of the primary considerations for me. The digital dash and larger infotainment screen also were significant for me as they fixed what I thought was the biggest eyesores of the pre-facelift interior.

The transmission was by far the C 63s worst feature. That 9 speed is going to change the car.

Well done.

Glad I didn't wait, a 2019 is more like a 2020. I don't drive it in the winter and I think eta on the 2019 are Dec? That's 1.5 summer of fun gone... By 2020, that's 2 years till the w206 comes? How do you even pick up the car from the show room when it snows? Snow tires from the dealership or a flatbed straight to my garage?

Ipad still a Ipad even though it's a touch bigger/wider. 9 speed tranny is nice but is there any real world performance gains? Could care less about gas mileage. I find the suspension in comfort acceptable. I have a SUV if I wanted time away from the performance seat and sport suspension.

Don't buy an AMG if you are worried about resale...
A 2019 is just another w205 4-5 years into the production if its a sedan. A 18 coupe looks like a first year production car and that's more important to me than whatever resale it may lose.

It doesn't matter what year model car you buy there will always be a newer and better model following it. Enjoy what you have.

We tend to do this so many times in our lives. You get yourself into a paralyzed state and end up not buying anything. The next model will always be better than the last or current. I am in the same boat, car was wrecked so I was asking myself, should I wait for 2019. If I can't get the car until December, then I won't be driving it until April so that is 10 months without a car. I bit the bullet and purchased a 2018 and won't regret it.

You are perfectly normal, in this respect. Almost everyone has episodes of buyers remorse. Being in sales all of my working career, I’ve learned to
live with it. You will be happy with your purchase, and will eventually replace it with another, and will likely suffer another case of buyers remorse.
We all ask “what if?” Questions daily.

I disagree.. I tend to make impulsive purchases, even after doing research, and THEN saying I should have waited

Buying our '14 coupe when, if I had waited, I could have gotten a '15 coupe with 13k miles for the same price...but I would have waited 3 months and risked neither being there.

now when we bought our condo, we jumped before fully thinking it through, and it worked GREAT because we got the property when other wanted it. If we had waited, we would have lost it.

It goes both ways

Not me

I weighed my options and personally I like the pre update grill better. With the HUD the digital display wasn't as appealing. I love HUD.

As soon as I drove the car I was in love and damned the update I wasn't waiting.

on the fence

I'm sort of the un middle. while the facelift is clearly superior in many areas such as the drive modes , traction control, steering wheel controls etc, the premium in price vs the pre facelift meant I could build a pre facelift (I asked my dealers various times if they had any info on the facelift and the only change they were aware of the digital dash mainly and not the driving modes other than slippery mode. In end , an OTR gbp80k car for gbp 64.5k was a no brainer for me at the time. And while I'll always know I missed out on the 9 speed , the engine is the same and that's the most important thing for me. Oh, and the massive discount pretty much wipes out most of the 20 percent VAT loss as soon as it leaves the show room. I'm happy enough with my choice.

I also had to really weight the C63s vs the GLC 63s and just about chose the C over the GLC but it was a close call !

Resurected thread, but since I’m here - gents I say be happy with what you have and enjoy the things that youve labored for or you’ll end up spending your entire life looking in the rear view mirror looking for the what ifs. Use the car up, enjoy it, and buy another in a few years.

Exactly, in a few years, the 2019 face lift will be old news and the W206 C63S will be what everyone is talking about.

No regret here, I have a 2018, not worth the upgrade imo. Just waiting for the R version if it's coming, if not then amg gt 63s. Wheel spin is a bit frustrating sometimes when you just want to mash and go.

i hope you got a good discount on the 2018 tho. I was in the same shoe. took delievery of the 2018 when I got home realizing there were no parking sensors and distronic sensor isnt the same as approximity sensor. after speaking with my dealer and looking for another one with the same spec and color i wanted without any luck. luckily my dealer was nice enough to take back the car and allowing me to order the 2019 instead. Its been a month now, i dream about the car everyday hah. I cant wait anymore and Ill be perfectly fine if I had gotten the 2018. is a nice car, theres always going to be something better in the future and youll never catch up unless you got the **** you money.
