Please HELP!!! Need to identify to find out if this noise is normal. THANKS!

Hello,

I have a new C63s AMG, my car is making this weird owl whooting noise when i steer left and accelerate slightly harder than normal driving. I have included the link below, it's between 4-5th second you can hear the noise. I brought it back to dealer and for 2 weeks they can't find anything wrong with the car. and said that's normal and it's just BOV. anyone has the same noise when they speed up C63s?

Sounds like a Bov to me and i wouldn't have noticed that if you had not mentioned it. I can't say i hear that on mine but I have the performance exhaust and im always in sport exhaust mode which is loud. Either way that just sounds like normal forced induction to me. I wouldn't worry about it IMO.

My problem is that, this is loud enough to hear over the ezhaust, and it's quite annoying. Also it happens during acceleration most of the time not when I shift or when I left off the foot. That's why I am skeptical that it is bov, in fact I can't even hear this sound in any other C63 videos that I found online.

That's definitely not a normal BOV sound. And you're right, it wouldn't happen under throttle. Never heard that noise, though... maybe try a different dealership or an Indy shop...

I can't hear anything unusual from the clip. if it only happens when you turn one direction, under hard acceleration, then you just need to figure out what is moving and rubbing / leaking when you do that. tires/wheel/brakes/steering could be one suspect, and the others are air box / intake plumbing? does the ecu throw any code? is the sound from engine bay or cabin or trunk?

skim7x and TLDream, the dealer was convinced that it's normal sound and said that it's the noise from blow off valve. The sound kind of sounds like it's from the left side near the door where the seat belt is. but none of us can figure out what is making that sound. that's why i am wondering if anyone else as the same problem. the dealer at first said it's the same issue as everyone else, it's the exhaust flap, and they greased it but it didn't do anything to help it. then they thought it's the electronic suspension, replaced it and it's not. did a transmission oil flush job and didn't help either. check the wheel bearing and it's all good. do you have any other suggestion what this may be? and Honestly can any of you really hear clear noise from a stock BOV? because i thought it's so quiet that we don't really hear anything from the STOCK BOV without extender.

like i said, if ECU thinks its all honky dory, then its probably nothing you need to worry about. not yet anyways Drive the car hard then bring it back to the dealer and ask them to look at ecu codes,

TLDream, My issue is that this sound is really annoying, imagine everytime you step on the gas it sounds like a owl or some kid decides to play with a rusty door. sometimes is so sharp it's annoying to listen to.

the owl hoot is totally normal if it happens when the turbos blow off. Not anything with turning though.

talk about noise, don't you hear all the creaking from everything inside, literally? or did they fix this in newer versions. Not trying to derailing your thread, but just trying to draw parallel that it may be a pointless quest, since majority of the cars early years experience creaking from panels and there's no fix.

thanks for respondkng, I understand there are some minor noises from BOV ,except blow off happens when you let off the gas or shift. This happens during acceleration. I am from Massachusetts

i actually don't hear the creaking if I don't put bottle water in the cup tray or paper in the glove box

to me it sounds like you have loose hard items in either the door bins or elsewhere only. the noise seems to be emitted when you hit bumps on the road. that's my take based on the.video. or glove compartment etc. the door bins etc don't seem to have a soft lining to absorb some of these rattles

just the other day I was bamboozled by a new rattle in my car and only after a couple of hours figured out it was my sunglasses rattling away in the sunglass compartment next to the rear view mirror .

Yes, the sunglass holder always rattles no matter which pair I put in there.

IMO not exactly. I hear it when I accelerate hard in say second and then when it switches to 3 I’m still accelerating but I have let off a bit - not lifted- as though the ecu is expecting hard acceleration but it turns into mild acceleration. That’s when I hear it. I almost never hear the hoot when I lift.

I came across this old thread today while searching for something else, and wanted to comment. I have experienced the same thingas OP, and I assume it is the traction control releasing air boost from the intake tract do when turning due to loss of traction. Basically I think the traction control or stability control is opening the blowoff valve in order to reduce power as part of doing its job. If you look at our diverter valve, they have a harness and wires to them, which is unusual in my experience, but would explain the car's ability to open them on demand versus most other cars where it's simply a mechanical pressure differential that operates them.
