2000 Mile Rear Diff Service?
Read on this Forum that C63S requires a rear diff service at 2K miles... Is this true? My dealer (Rusnak in Arcadia) didn't seem to know off the top of his head - but came back and said yes, it is required and the cost is $395.00. Not a lot of money but seems a bit pricey just to change the rear diff oil and plug...

Yes it's required at 2k miles but price is abit high. I paid 280 last month and that's even too much but what can ya do. I would have done it myself but I wanted it to be on record. Fair price would be $200. I've seen people pay $160 but each dealership has its own charge.

Yes u can do it yourself the fluid and 2 new plugs are about $70. I thought because of having a electronic diff in my S they had to do something with the computer like in the c43 but I guess they don't.

😊
My wife’s 2018 AMG GLS 63 came with this same sticker so I plan to have the rear differential fluid changed at our local dollar and am told it is around $200. I drive BMW M cars and 1,200 mile break in services are common but was surprised her SUV needed it.

I'm pretty sure the GLS63 doesn't require the rear differential service nor do any 4-Matic AMG models outside of the CLA-based cars. I have a family member that has one ('18 GLS63), and they didn't require it. Also just looked through the maintenance schedule too, and in the part where its shows that the C-class and others need the service, it shows that the GLS doesn't.

I would recommend doing a diff fluid change on any high performance car or suv after initial break in to remove all metal shavings and ensure the fluid isn’t under filled from the factory, which is very common on some cars. You’re talking a $30 bottle of oil and a $20 fluid pump then you can do it yourself in about 30 minutes or $200~ to have it done and keep everything working at its best for many miles ahead.
