The instructions they provide are pretty confusing, but a somewhat abridged guide (at least for my car) would be:

Remove the speaker grille that sits on the top of the dash
Loosen the two torx screws that are inside the cavity
Pull the centre screen outwards towards the back of the car
Undo the cables and disconnect the screen
Remove the centre console
Undo the two torx screws holding in the main media unit
Pull the main media unit out and disconnect the large block connector
Remove the optical cable plug from the main connector
Plug the optical connector into the block on the new wiring harness
Connect the new wiring harness to the old connector and the media unit
Run the required cables up to the screen area (this can be a bit fiddly)
Run the USB cable from the audio box into the centre console
Connect everything up to the screen (GPS antenna, audio box, stock screen cable, main cable) and install everything else in reverse order

The harness they send comes with a TON of connections on it for things like aftermarket cameras, making things a little confusing. Nearly all of them can be ignored for most people.

Hey Tom, working on installing mine but for some reason have no audio from factory or new screen.

Can you please explain this step?

Remove the optical cable plug from the main connector
Plug the optical connector into the block on the new wiring harness

Thanks!

How do you find the screen in terms of size? Looks flatter than stock?

Good luck!

The main connector block that was plugged into the back of the main media unit (the big silver box behind the console) has two optical cables that need to be removed and then placed into the block on the new harness so they can again be plugged directly into the main media unit.

Thanks for the advice, plugging in the optical cables restored audio from the stock head unit. That's a relief, not sure why the instructions did not advise to so this.

I now have no audio from the Android unit. I understand you are supposed to search for the Android unit from the Mercedes head unit, but the Android unit does not appear when I try to connect with the Mercedes. My phone can see the Android unit and pair with it. How did you get the stock unit to see it? I do not see any button for pairing on the Android unit.

Thanks again!

What did they send you in terms of audio options? I ended up using usb audio so I have a little box which is plugged into their harness and then into a usb port inside the centre console.

This is what they sent. How did you hook you the usb? I am not sure what the metal box with a USB and red and white audio cables is for.

What you received looks a little different to what I got... I can only assume the red and white cables from the harness connect to those and then the USB cable goes into the centre console.

Thanks for the response. So when you want to hear audio from the tablet, like Spotify, you select the USB input mode on the Mercedes head unit? And you have the USB cable running into your arm rest compartment and plugged into the stock USB port?

I’m installing mine now.

Factory screen had 2 cables going to it when you pulled it out but it looks like only one of those can go into the new Android unit, is that right? Does the other one just sit loose? So it’s just main big white connector, smaller blue connector (that was also on the factory screen previously, and the GPS/4g antennas if needed?

9 times out of 10 it will already be on the correct audio source from when I last used the car. The other times it will either automatically switch or I just press the media button and then swipe the touch screen to go back into android mode.

Only one of the OEM connectors from the original screen goes into the android screen yes.

I only used one connect in the back. I will try plugging the mysterious audio cables with the metal box into the harness and the USB port and see what happens.

Oof finally just about done installing mine. Definitely tricky! Particularly running those cables. The installation instructions are awful.

But, now that it’s in, its awesome. The CarPlay dongle works great too.

Mine came with a “Mitsubishi” audio box. I connected that to the white 2pin connector on the wiring harness and ran that to the USB connector in the center console.

Sorry for the delay- here’s a picture of the cable.

Separately, do any of you guys get an “SOS Inoperative” message now at start up?

No message here either.

Look like we have all ended up with different USB audio boxes but I'm sure they all work in the same way.

Does your audio box have red and white connectors that you plug into the harness?

Hmmm. Do you have a picture of the end? Does it plug into the harness that plugs into the back of the silver factory box?

I don't since it's all buttoned up now. It's a 2pin white connector on the NEW (Android screen) harness, I assume it's just an analog out. I agree that the red/white connectors using the adapter you have should accomplish the same thing.
