Welcome to the club. I barely feel qualified saying that but I did beat you by about 10 days. Maybe I am an old timer. I saw Caddy Shack in the theater.

I saw it in the theater too! haha. looks like the C63 attracts us "more seasoned" buyers.

does anyone know whether getting tint done right after will harm the ceramic? the ceramic guy said not to tint for a week or so, but i have an appointment on saturday, right after...inclined to ignore his warning since i just want the car back. haha

of course! laser disc was ahead of its time...just too large physically for anyone to hop on the bandwagon. also, nobody wanted to make content for laser disc so the selections were so little...

Ok I feel like I'm missing something - but why would the two be an issue? The ceramic is on the exterior of the car and the tints are on the interior. I had PPF, ceramic and tints done over a 4 day period my car was in the shop and had no issues. The ceramic and tints were both done the day before I picked it up.

@Seis-Tres , the ceramic guy said that the alcohol used for tint can be damaging to the ceramic coat...i think he thinks some will still get on the outside by accident. not sure if he's being overly cautious or there's something there...but either way, your experience sounds like i shouldn't be worried about it. i take it you have not had any noticeable ceramic issues...?

+1, I did the same with my car - Xpel PPF, Ceramic Pro and Tints together over a period of 5 days. I had to go in a second time because the first time the shop could not get to completing the Ceramic coating in few hard to reach areas. I had to drop off my car for a second time to do this. However, they combined it with examining the PPF for bubbles, colorings, etc. roughly 3 weeks since the first time.

No issues with the ceramic or the tint as far as I can tell in the 4 weeks it's been back. And it has been a pleasure to wash - it's easily half the effort of cleaning a car without it. As long as it's a professional shop with a good reputation I think you should be fine.

Sheeeeshh indeed !!
Konigster and SteveV kindly provided me with my new S560 data card and build spec.
On the data card it says shipment date 09.06.2019 (6th September 2019).
What does this actually mean ? I have been unable to contact my dealer (yet) for clear status of whether my car still sits in the "marshalling yard" in Sindelfingen (what ever that means) or has it made the 734 kilometres to the Bremerhaven Port and is now actually on a ship !!!

I feel your pain. Your best bet will be to find out who your AMG rep is in your area and bother them. I might start with the MB/AMG website and reach out to customer service and start the investigative work...good luck!

Nice looking car @mrguitar !. After three weeks at the VPC mine finally changed to VPC Ready yesterday, so it should be any day now. Just has to make the final journey up here.

You really wanna contact your dealer and find out the exact status of your car and whether it has been assigned to a vessel. Once it's assigned to a vessel you can start tracking the vessel. I'm assuming the 09.06 date is when it left the factory or at least was supposed to leave the factory. It'll take a couple of weeks to make its way to the port in Bremerhaven and get loaded on a vessel.

Thanks! Just got the call from the dealer. My car is being unloaded as we speak. I don't have time tomorrow, but I'll be picking it up Friday morning. Hope all the issues have been taken care off. I've got Xpel installation scheduled for next week and need to make an appointment to get Ceramic Pro on top of everything afterwards.

The long lost love has finally arrived home. Have to go back next week, though, to tie up a few loose ends. The sales manager I'm working with dropped the ball and didn't let people know that I was coming in to pick it up today, so it wasn't ready when I showed up. Had to sit around for an hour before collecting it. It's kinda dirty and has lots of streak marks on it from the polish. They didn't really properly detail it. Also at home noticed a couple of minor scratches on the rear bumper that definitely weren't there when I dropped it off in Germany. They were very apologetic about the dropped ball and promised to make it up to me. The Mercedes Me account is also not properly activated, so I have to get that sorted out next week as well, but at least the baby is back in my possession.

A couple of somewhat surprising items. I'm positively pleased with the ride quality in Comfort. I couldn't really tell in Europe how it compares to my RS5, but now that I'm driving it on my very familiar roads I can positively say it rides much more comfortable than my RS5 did. The second nice surprise is the VPC removed the front license plate holder and must have filled the holes. It does look like it was screwed on. They left the holder and EU plates in the trunk. I think at least one person commented that they didn't do ED partly because of the front license plate, but that shouldn't stop anyone. My front bumper looks new and clean. I did get a fix it ticket a few years ago and had front license plates since then, but I think I'm gonna go w/o again this time around and see what happens.

A few quick pics.

No holes in the front bumper

That was ME who complained about that!

I can't believe they filled that in...are you certain it was done at the VPC and not the dealer though? Could have sworn I've seen other ED cars with the front bumper either on or the holes. Yes, that was one of my pet peeves. Haha. Good to know that it might not be the case for future ED cars...maybe I'll take the trip some day.

I've never gotten a ticket for missing front bumper in Socal. Actually, one time I did and that was when I parked at LAX and was cited by a parking cop??? Never got one while moving though, and that's been since 2006-ish. Cops don't care out here as long as you're not breaking the rules and/or your car looks suspicious otherwise (i.e. aftermarket tunes/exhausts, etc.)

Anyway, congrats! Glad you're reunited with it! I just passed break-in and have not driven in comfort again! Hahaha...race mode only for me. Will comment on my first impressions later on.

I'm pretty sure it must have been done at the VPC. The car was unloaded Wednesday afternoon and I picked it up this morning. There was not enough time to take it to a body shop to get this done by the dealer. Not sure if the VPC did it because it had to go to the body shop anyway to fix a scratch I caused on the rear bumper and a minor rash on the front right wheel. They fixed both, although, the rear scratch is still a bit visible. They clearly polished it out, but not all the way, so I'm gonna have to see if they can polish it out completely next week before I put on PPF.

Yeah, I never had issues with not having a front license plate for many years, but then one night I was parked in San Francisco on the street while attending a concert and when I came out I had a ticket from SFPD. They specifically stopped and wrote me a ticket. It was way past the parking meter hours when I parked. I don't spend much time in the city these days and if I do I generally off street.

Congrats superswiss on getting back your car. The front bumper looks neatly done.

Hehe...the Beetle is my wife's garage queen, literally. She barely drives. It's 15 years old and has 35k miles on it , but it keeps her from driving my cars, which is all that matters and it might become a classic one day
