Hardwiring a Radar Detector

Hardwiring a Radar Detector
I have a Radenso Pro M radar/laser detector that also has a direct wire kit that I'd like to install in my 2019 C63s. The direct wire kit is pretty simple--two wires on one end, and the plug-in for the detector on the other end. Ideally, I'd like to run the wire up to the passenger-side visor, where I will have the radar detector clipped.
Does anyone have any experience or advice in wiring a detector? Where should I wire it to, and how do I most effectively hide the wires? Any advice or words of caution to me or the installer or otherwise?

Assuming 2019 is same as the 2017 and that it is left hand drive ( not sure if that matters ) the fuse box you want to use is the one on the driver side (left hand drive). The passenger side only has "hot" fuses (constant on). I hide all my wires via the headliner where it meets the winshield and down the a-pillar. I hope that helps.

I have an Escort Max 360 hardwired and I would recommend putting it high on on the drivers side. I started off with mine on the passenger side but it was hard to see the display. On the drivers side it’s a quick glance up and doesn’t impede driving vision at all.

Honestly if your dealer can do a good job, just get them to do it. Mine did a phenomenal job for $150. Installed front/rear dashcams and a 360 Max. Looks factory installed, wire goes straight into the headliner and disappears.

I have had trouble finding a switched fuse in my 2019. My 2016 205 had switched options in the fuses plenty but this car is wired differently. I always hardwire my radars and have done at least 10 cars so I’m comfortable doing it. I have a thread somewhere here for my 2016 and as soon as I do the 2019 I’ll post pics.

I did the rear camera, that was pretty straight forward, plenty of spare empty fuse positions that are ignition switched. I haven't tried the front yet, my goal was to run the wire down to the passenger footwell because that's the direction my wiring wants to go, but I'll need to check if any there's any spare ignition switched fuse positions to work with. If I find something I'll post back.
Yes please! Any pictures or experienced advice would be very helpful and greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Quite straight forward actually. The panel under glove compartment has two screws and a few clips. You can then access the connector for the power socket ( cig lighter). I didn’t take pics because it was very easy. I understand not every car has this power socket based on the options.

I found the easiest install was to the trunk fuse box. Open ports there, and the wire follows under the trim nicely all the way to the back. I did the install myself, with no previous experience, in about an hour. Just needed the Add-a-fuse kit and a decent plastic trim tool.

This is all really helpful, thanks. I'm getting mine installed tomorrow (fingers crossed).
I'm planning to have mine clipped to the driver's side sun visor. I figure that's a good accessible location, but also a good place to tuck away the wire when I'm not using the detector.
Where do you all clip/mount your detectors?

I don't think the model of the detector is a factor. My Radenso Pro-M is wired through to the trunk, with the wiring run through up to the driver's side sun screen. It powers up as soon as the car turns on. I mount my detector on the windshield high up just to the left of the mirror.

I am not understanding when you say it is "wired through the trunk." I can run the wiring to the trunk but what in the trunk do I tie the wiring to in the trunk?

There's a post above from Bob Ham from June of 2019 that has better information than I can provide. Those are the general instructions I gave to the guy who did my installation. I just went into a local Best Buy install shop and paid $50. It took them about an hour to do, but I suspect they spent a portion of that time just oogling over the car.

Same situation here except find a private local tint shop. They usually offer these services as well but for much cheaper. Got my escort 360 max hardwired for $60.

PLEASE NOTE THESE APPLY TO MY2016 W205 C63s. I have not performed this for MY2019 yet. This is the overhead compartment. The brown red line seem to switch off a few minutes after the car turns off.

I searched every single fuse point in the front on both sides of the car and none of them were ignition controlled. So - I ended up running the power for the front camera all the way back to the trunk and added another fuse to the rear fuse block to power the front camera. I didn't want to use the wire-taps for a few reasons, but really it comes down to personal preference and which pain-in-the-*** you want to go through.

So I've gone through the fuse boxes in the driver's and passenger's side of my 2020 c63s coupe and found no switched fuses when trying to install my escort max 360c. Really disappointing because i've got the smartcord direct wire that I'll now have to do some finagling with to extend the length of the wire to go all the way to the trunk just to tap into a switched fuse. Life would be so much easier if I could tap into the driver's side fuse box. Has anyone had any luck with the facelift in finding a switched fuse in the front or found a different way to achieve the same thing (convenient wiring in the front)?

Sorry, brother. The installers who hardwired my Radenso said they looked for a switched fuse up front everywhere they could think to try, without luck. That's not to say it doesn't exist, but just that my experience with the 2019 C63s (sedan) was identical to yours. Fortunately, the Radenso hardwire kit included more than enough length to accomplish the job.
Good luck. If you find anything helpful out there, please report back.
