Parking brake release issue
i have the 2017 W205 AMG C63S Coupe Edition 1. My problem is that the day after washing the car, when I engage the gear to move forward the brake does not release effortlessly. In fact I have to accelerate a lot before the brake releases. There is also quite a thumping noise at the point of release. This only occurs after a car wash. I must admit that I wash the car diligently 3 times a week and the problem happens every time. Dealer said that it is a common problem. Can anyone confirm this?
Cheers.
For me it also occurs after not driving the car for 3-4+ days, although I find i can circumvent this by not applying the ebreak when parking (Doesn't work for post car wash)
Would also be interested in hearing if anyone has a solution
- before turning off car:
+ put car in park (press button on end of shifting lever)
+ open driver's door (hear parking brake engage ... whine sound at rear of vehicle)
+ release park brake by pulling park-lever under dash by driver's door (LHD cars)
- turn off car
Note: the car is now prevented from rolling only via the parking prawl/gear in the transmission ... don't do this on a hill and realize that, if someone runs into your parked car, it could do transmission damage.

My old Jaguar XKR used to have the same issue, but nowhere near as bad and it was easy to release the electronic handbrake so that when the discs were wet they didn't seize as badly.
Your postings have been useful to confirm the issue and to understand how to release the parking brake on the Merc, so thanks for that
Unfortunately these modern cars are a little too clever sometimes, especially when it is necessary to open the door, do the Fandango and turn 10 times before releasing the handbrake

During the Summer months I always drive the car after washing to prevent the brakes seizing due to rust on the discs. Unfortunately this isn't possible in the crappy wet Winter months of the North of England (UK). Well, it is, but then the car gets covered in dirty spray again!
I spent 15 mins the other day trying to figure out how to stop the handbrake engaging and then gave up! Glad I found this post.
