So I just moved to Houston and the roads here are the worst I’ve ever driven. Unavoidable pot holes everywhere. Three of my wheel center caps have fallen off and I’m going to try to get them replaced by the dealership under warranty, fingers crossed.
What I wanted to ask is if anyone else has had these problems? Are these center caps just loose to begin with? This hasn’t really happened on any other car I’ve driven. Attaching a pic for reference.
Pretty sure, that’s what I thought at first then realized I’ve only been driving from my house to a guarded garage at work this week. There’s quite a few nicer cars there with no other missing center caps. That and I’ve lost one at a time over the last week. Figured if it was a thief that wanted more than one they’d have taken them all at the same time.
You are talking about the big black plastic cover - right? They aren't very secure and I didn't like the look of it. I took it off and bought a regular Black Benz star to put in the center hole. It looked more racier that way and thus would avoid the issue you are having. This is from my 2015 which I no longer have.
Those lock into place by turning the silver centercap clockwise until it clicks. They're pretty easy to accidentally unlock, so I'm not surprised people have had them fall off.
I took mine off because I replaced them with the center caps that benzbell showed above.

never had 1 fall out and I grew up in new england in the land ice and snow and massive spring time potholes..
