Am I crazy considering replacing the C63S Coupe with a C8 Corvette?
I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty hyped for the C8 Corvette. I've been planning on getting into a 991.2 Porsche after my 17' C63S Coupe warranty is up towards the end of 2021 (likely even earlier). There aren't many other cars out there that I'd want to replace the C63S Coupe with, but I've always wanted a rear or mid-engine car - the 718 has always been interesting (though the engine is a deal breaker to me), and the 991.2 is fantastic but I would buy used with not much (if any) existing warranty.
I don't like the Vette stigma, but I think this may be the one that breaks it. Of course I'm also waiting to see what the W206 C63 becomes with 4Matic+, drift mode, etc... but with all the extra bells and whistles, I think we'll be seeing pricing in the low-$80k range before adding options. With a base C8 starting at $59k, a nicely optioned Z51 package C8 would probably come in at mid to high $70k. I'm also honestly a bit surprised by how practical the C8 is with the (relatively) large front and rear storage, despite packing a mid-engine LT V8 - way more practical than a mid-engine 718 (and rear engine 911 too, if you don't count the backseats for volume).
Am I crazy for considering this car as a C63S replacement? Am I the only one?

Not a fan of the overall design, but it's a worthy replacement. The performance aspect of that car is insane for $60K starting.
I'll wait to see what the Z06 version is like.

The C8 is a poor man's Ferrari - and it's brand new with a warranty and not ridiculous maintenance costs.
Stigma is something you care about if you care about what others think of you and your choices.
i think the c8 will be brilliant and it's not crazy at all.

I'd say if you're excited about the car and it makes you feel something then go for that car! AND enjoy everything costing less and going just as fast I've never been a hater of Corvette's because......how could you be?
Sounds like a great dilemma Good luck

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
You'd probably want to wait a little until the bugs have been worked out. Remember that electrical issue that delayed the release of the C8.

Having had Vettes, this C8 lines up to be the best modern Vette yet. Love the Exterior, interior and the aspirated Mid Engine. If I was looking for a second car, I'd get one in a heart beat! Stigma? What stigma. It's still America's #1 Sport car IMO.

I don't think it's crazy. The C8 has definitely changed my perception of the Corvette. For my lifestyle, I don't see it as a replacement for a C63, though, despite its generous cargo areas. The issue for me as a primary car would be the impractical shape of the cargo areas. You don't fit larger suitcases, coolers and other bulky items into that rear cargo area for a weekend out of town. It's good for golf bags and duffel bags. The lack of rear seats for occasional passengers would also be an issue for me. But if the practicality the C8 offers suits your lifestyle, then why not?

I've been a long-time Vette lover. The C8 looks incredible on paper and in pictures.
For the price-point you won't find a better performance bargin. As far as Stigma, that's a personal thing. I for one couldn't care less what anyone thinks, if I enjoy it then it serves it's purpose.
Best of luck on your decision, it's not an easy one.

You probably need to drive one and check out the fit and finish, it looks good in the pics and the price is agressive. Bet the cops pay more attention to the Vette than the MB. I've owned 6 Vettes in years past, been there and done that but have to admit this one will be owed at least a test drive.

I bought my c63s as my only car, I always love having a daily driver that still doubles as a weekend fun car. If that's not the case for you I'd say go for it, if I was buying a car as just a fun/toy/weekend/ second type vehicle I would have bought a c7 z06 instead for sure

Didn't the C7 Z06 had cooling/overheating issues with engine/transmission when being tracked, especially in hot days? There was even a Class action lawsuit for certain year models I believe.

They're making RHD for the UK market and I'm seriously interested. Just have to hold out to see what the mark up is once they're on our shores. I'm thinking they'll basic at at least £75k.

Not crazy, just depends on what you prefer. I was also cross shopping C7/8, Caymann GTS, and a C63S (coupe). They are all fun, can be tracked (C63S less so), but in the end I wanted a little more luxury. I will be reevaluating in 4 or so years if Porsche revises the Cayman engine.

I thought the exact same thing. Unless AMG comes out with something radically different in the next 3 years, I'll probably pick a C8 up. When I saw it, I was immediately reminded of the 2003 360 Modenas, which was one of my favorite cars visually back in the day

a few things to consider, however...
- the rear of the C8 vette (i think) looks TERRIBLE. it's a mess. it's overly complex. it's fat and ugly...again, my two cents. front looks great...chevrolet looks like they tried to meld a 458 and NSX together...and failed.
- it will be marked up like crazy for the 1st year or two...is it worth it at $100K?
- when the price comes back down, EVERYONE and their brother will own one...it will NOT be special nor will it be special to look at. it's like the C7 at launch...was pretty cool to see it when it came out, but now it's everywhere. borrrr-iiiing.

Man 0-60 in under 3 seconds in the Z51 performance package and I doubt that will be just $60k... Keep in mind it's also still a chevy, I'd much rather have the refinement of a Mercedes Benz...
This is all hype and the C8 base will become the next mustang -> they'll be everywhere and your grandma will have one.
