Sales numbers for C63 vs C63S

Curious...does anybody have actual sales numbers/stats (not speculation or opinion) for C63 vs C63S? Everybody on the forum seems to have an S, but I know these forums are not really representative of the general public. Was curious what the ratio was in the real world.

I’ve seen more “S” model on the road. I wonder how many S model is actually non S model (re-badged). 😄

In Bay Area, California - I've hardly seen a C63 (neither S nor non-S) on the road. However, I've seen quite a lot of C43 vehicles on the road. I've also seen few GLC63 models.

Relatively, I see a lot of BMW M2, M3, M4 and same with Audi S4, S5. When I drove to SoCal few months ago, saw two RS5 coupes, but have not seen much RS5s in general either.

well that is normal. I pretty much see c43s every day. However, since Ive had my car for over a year ive literally only seen 3 other c63s and amongst those only one was a coupe. But the 63 being more exclusive than the 43 shouldnt come as a surprise and same thing for coupe vs sedan.

As i was on the search for the last 2 months i can tell you in the Bay Area I rarely see the C63s Sedan/Coupe - and as i was looking for 17/18 Model Year only 39 for sale nationwide - luckily scored and have it being shipped to my house this week - will post pics once it arrives and comes home from detail shop

I don't have any numbers for AMG, but yes judging from how many one can see on the roads, they seem to be rather rare. I've seen two '19 C63S coupes, and zero sedans so far. I've probably seen less than 5 C63/S in total over the years. Even the older gen. It was the same with Audi RS. I've only seen maybe 4 or so other RS5s from the same generation as mine since I have mine. Just today I saw my first RS5 Sportback in the wild. On the other hand plenty of regular C class, A and 3-series on the road every day. Just to give a bit of an idea, Audi sold around 2500 RS5 per year for 2.5 model years of the original RS5 in the USA. Not sure what the sales numbers look like for the current one, but like the 2019 C63/S the 2019 RS5 suffered from major delays and word is Audi has stopped taking orders and there will be no MY2020. I can't imagine the sales numbers were much higher than the previous gen RS5. I also don't think AMG sells a whole lot more C63/S than a couple of thousand a year in the USA. It is the best selling AMG, but that doesn't mean much. These are niche models. Compare that to something like the Corvette. The C7 in a good year sold around 30,000 in the USA alone. Based on what I heard and read, the C63 non S doesn't sell well in the USA. It makes only sense if you stay with a barely optioned base model. Once you add common options there's only something like a $4000 difference between the S and non S and you are in the high $80k low $90k range, so that difference doesn't break anyone's bank at that level. In Europe it seems to be the opposite. The non S is apparently quite popular.

I felt MB offers the S vs the non-S variants to compete with the CS vs non-CS variants of M3. I feel it might be more economical for MB to just offer one variant. When I was looking for cars in the bay area, I was offered a 2018 non-S which was sitting on the lot for more than a year, and at a mere $1000 off MSRP. I am inclined to think MB will just offer one variant of the C63 with the next generation. MB has in general had more models to offer compared to others, and definitely with a lot of overlap.

I see a lot of AMG SUVs and crossovers in Bay area, might be true across rest of the US too.

Eight years ago, M3/M4 was a rare sight even in Bay area. Now I see them all the time. I think BMW has done a great job with the leasing market to attract folks. Many professions (eg. lawyers) offer reimbursements (with caps) for monthly vehicle lease payments and it's not a bad deal when you think about it.

We'll see a contraction of the models offered in the USA for sure. MB announced as much at a recent dealer meeting in Las Vegas. I think we are already starting to see it. The refreshed AMG GLC SUV is only coming as the GLC63 to the USA. If you want the GLC63S you gonna have to get the Coupe. Similar thing could happen to the C63. They might only offer the C63 as sedan, and the C63S as coupe, or the coupe could disappear altogether. Related to OP's question is also how many coupes vs sedans. The sedans are sold in larger numbers it seems, however, it seems recently we've had quite a bit of '19 C63S coupe deliveries at least as far as this community is concerned.

That's an overall trend unfortunately. Last year the share of cars vs. SUV/Crossovers fell to 40% vs. 60%, so car sales are now below 50%. The could spell doom for regular coupes, which are already a niche product.
