They do ship I believe yes. I spoke to their support team yesterday. They teach you to wire to to the OEM button. I find that nicer to be honest than an extra remote or a system that does auto detect, it's a very minor edit to CANbus (a tiny clip that slightly splices the wire). It's easy to remove and just put a little piece of tape over the splice.

This is how the clip looks like below. In all honesty, I'm not convinced yet, just looking into it, doesn't seem too bad but I still feel like I don't want to **** with wiring just yet.

I just got a 2018 C63. I plan to order the modal works catted DP. Will I need the spacers so I dont get a CEL, or is that only an issue with post face lift cars?

I am about to go this route in a 2021 C63s. Sound like spacers + 90 degree adapter should be fine based on Spazdoc's experience. Have you received further guidance from ModalWorks?

I have catted dp on my 19 fl, the shop couldn’t fit the Big Daddy spacers so I’m running with CEL ON for now which is very annoying. Not sure where to source 90 degree adapter though

I think you can get the 90 degree adapters from Big Daddie's as well. That's where ModalWorks pointed me to:

How is everyones modal works downpipes holding up? Issues/Lights still all good? Looking at getting a similar set.

It looks like victory road performance is using a similar supplier.

https://www.vrpspeed.com/product/w20...ded-downpipes/

modal work is no longer selling the catted/shielded version of their pipes. A few remaining de-cat downpipes are all they have left and then they wont be selling them anymore.

Mine have been pretty good but I only drove like 4k miles last year. Working from home full time. Smell is a bit more than I’d like. I would’ve changed them for better Cats if I was keeping the car. Selling the car in February.

Modal catted/shielded DP and intake, no tune, spacers. After spacers, only had CEL three times. Once was a weird coincidence when TPM sensor showed low tire pressure on a cold day same, both came on the same time and went away when added air to tires. The 2nd and 3rd times were after track days.
Any information why Modal is dropping the heat shielded and catted DP?

Can you please tell me which spacers did you use?

Doesn't sound like this mod is worth the hassle of occasional CEL and the smell.

They were the Big Daddy spacers - I don't have the link but it was mentioned either here or another thread about the catted DP.

Regarding the CEL, it is inconsequential as it was temporary after hard track days. I also don't notice any odor, as opposed to my catless S4.

Do you not need to pass smog? sometimes just bc a CEL is gone doesn't mean all the settings have cleared and are ready/good to go in order to pass.

IL does only OBD scan, and only active codes count. For example, I have a Volvo with old cats, and occasionally get CEL. I run Cataclean, CEL goes away and I get the car checked for emissions and passes, but they say that they see old codes. But they are not active.

Not sure if you bought the DP yet, but I just installed mine (Modal Catted DP) and I do love it. I do have a family and this is my summer daily drive and I keep the car in the garage during rainy and winter seasons. However, I didn't notice much gas smells at all and the sound is not crazy loud. I would say, its about 5-10 percent louder than OEM DP but the performance is epic. quick throttle response and gains are much better than being restricted from the OEM DP. The sound is much quieter then those Honda's with those fart cans. My neighbor has a Civic Type R stock and that exhaust is much noticeable when it drives out from our street. Install was a pain, but I think you can manage that. You will have to remove the steering column, there's no work around. Its easy tho, the steering column is held on by a quick disconnect coupling. Make sure steering wheel and wheel/tires are straight or just use a sharpie to mark an alignment line from the steering column shaft to the quick disconnect. I found that removing the lower bracing will give more room to cut out the old DP's, use a quality saw blade. Took 3 saw blades to cut through the DP. Cut it 3-4 inches above the last cat so you can weld a V-band onto it for later use.

One man job, cost me 5 hours. But if there was a good right up, I can see it taking less than 3 or 2 hours the most. The upper brackets that holds the DP to the engine is the worst part of it all. Everything else was pretty smooth installed. The lower passenger DP seems about 2-3 inches too short, I had to muscle the exhaust, pull it forward to make the connection ( a second person can be helpful here).

Do you have Modal catted DP or other brand? Also, did you fit the Big Daddy O2 mini cat, add another angled spacer to the mini cat, or just get the Big Daddy angle O2 simulators in the link above?

I will be honest, that after a hard track day, I get a catalyst efficiency CEL after about a day. Not sure if all the hard driving affects the exhaust afterwards, but I clear it after about 24 hours and it stays off. I suspect that the tolerances are so tight for the O2 sensors that is you have too much or too little exhaust gas passing by them (or the mini cat cleans too much or too little) that you get a CEL.

I have "ARMYTRIX Sport Cat-Pipe with 200 CPSI cats". So the CEL actually comes ON and OFF randomly. I had to use 1 angle adapter to fit the mini cat.

Have you contacted ARMYTRIX about solutions for the CEL?

I purchased the Modal catted DP early, and they worked with me thoroughly to find a solution to the CEL, from recommending the specific items for the CEL, to troubleshooting the tight O2 sensor installation and providing me with several solutions, and following up consistently. Most of the reason why C63 owner go for the catted DP is to avoid this situation without a tune (which easily could void any powertrain warranty even if the tune is only to clear CEL), and more minor consideration is less noise compared to catless DP (if you worry about too much noise, get a Tesla).

For the people who used spacers to get rid of the CEL. I'm assuming you installed the spacers on the sensors after the Cat, is that correct?

I just had my catted downpipes installed Monday, and I couldn't be happier, the exhaust sound is perfect, I'm all smiles driving it. No popcorn pop and crackles, it sounds OEM, just louder with pronounced and sophisticated sound.

I purchased 90 deg mini cats from big daddies garage but they did not fit, might be because I have PFL. I ordered a set of straight spacers, will report on fitment soon.

So far without spacers, I do not have any CEL yet, not sure why but I'll take it.
