I upgraded a size to 255/275 and it has made a big difference in the cars ability to put the power down in the rear quicker, and the front is a little sharper (not much). No issues at all with fit.

For me it did, in terms of traction in the rear. I also switched from Dunlop Sport Maxx RT to Michelin P4S, so that may have something to do with it. Others on this forum have gone to 285, some even 295. So, maybe they've had different experiences. I was just conservative going 275 because I didn't want rubbing or other drama. But, it works great! My car is also stock, but the PS4S can easily handle the power on public roads and hooks-and-goes up every time (other than in the obvious rain, etc.).

Switching compound and to brand new tires is what made the difference. One section width up is fairly negligible really.

Im planning on doing the same thing soon. Going up 10mm and switching to Michelin PS4S from the current Dunlop Maxx RT. The Dunlops are easily the worst tire ive had on any of my cars and ive had Pirelli P-Zero and Michelin PSS & PS4S on my previous car. I think its the compound of the tire that is prob making the most difference.

I’m running 255/275 Michelin A/S 3+ and like the extra width, looks better IMO. The A/S 3+’s lasts longer than the summer options and it’s easier to slide it around corners, which I find to be great fun. I don’t plan on tracking it so it’s a nice combo.

How is off the line traction? thats the biggest issue with my Dunlops...anything beyond 70% throttle, and the rear starts to slide and the traction control kicks in.

Seems like a 285 with should fit with no problems. Assuming that the size with the right aspect ratio for similar overall diameter is available.

For reference I have the Oem 18" wheels and fit 285 on the back with room to spare. 285s are still within comfortable fitment range of a 9.5" wheel.

I run 265/285 - proper offset on rims and profile of tire and no problem.

265/30-20 on 20x9.5 ET35
285/30-20 on 20x10.5 ET57

Traction on the PS4S compared to the Dunlops are a huge improvement. Car just hooks up now. With the Dunlops, full throttle would always slide the rear. You won't be disappointed!

i know you could have the rear as wide as 285, but if im going to increase the back by 20 mm i also need to add 20 mm front, and the front max width is 255

can anyone who has 265 on 19" AMG Cross Spoke Forged front wheels tell me if the tire would scracth the fenders on full lock right or left?

Im running 255 35 19 Front and 285 30 19 Rear and its not giving me problems what so ever. I dont know why all of you want to "keep the ratio". Im upping the rear to 295 next time around and im sure it will be perfectly fine.

because it would upset the vehicle balance, the wider the back without widening the front will create more understeer to the vehicle. Steering changes

Anyways turns out its the brand of the tire more than the width of the tire that really affects. Dunlop sucks.

Which to be honest is exactly what oversteer-happy C63 needs, currently running 255/35/R19 and 295/30/R19 on my sedan, a perfect match in terms of F/R tire size comparison

On full lock right with 265 and now 255 front I had some inner fender liner rub for some reason, but I think I'm just unlucky as now I'm lowered and the 255 doesn't rub anymore with or without spacers. Read my last couple posts on this thread though, it might help you with a decision.

Currently running PS4S 295/30/R19/(100Y) PN: 20617, much better than Cup 2 in the wet especially under heavy rain, haven't tried Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport yet, but I'd still call PS4S the best and most balanced daily UHP summer tire on the market

Cup 2 295/30/R19/(100Y): best affordable track day tire, manageable in wet but not much confidence when aquaplaning

Trofeo R 295/30/R19/(100Y): wider tread width then Cup 2 295, so a bit difficult to install, not recommended on the road as I blew left rear under sudden acceleration on the freeway due to unknown pieces and objects, easy to be scratched

Cup 2 305/30/R19/(102Y) N0: could be the ultimate track size, unfortunately too wide for 10" wheel and scratches fender like crazy on my sedan
