What do you guys think about the new M3 and M4s? Is it worth losing C63s over this?

There is nothing to say, the new M division is a joke... so far gone from what it once was. From the hideous grilles to the fact it may be increasing in weight by over 300 lbs (conservative estimate). Whatever though competition will have plenty to offer people willing to look elsewhere. Hopefully AMG pulls thought with a V8 in the next c63 no matter the rumours of a hybrid 4 pot.

The grille is growing on me and looks way better with the licence plate on it. I miss my old E46 M3. Pitty they don't make them like they used to!

You can also ruin the rear end with the M-Performance upgraded exhaust and diffuser if you’re so inclined...

Bold. I like it, as for the grill it might take some time but people will get used to it. There is enough difference between the C63 and the M4 so there will obviously be overlap but two different experiences is my guess.

Standard M3 @ 480 horsepower with 4.2 0-60; Competition @ 510 with 3.9 0-60... Disappointing & ugly design.

Former F80 M3 owner here and this looks hideously over designed. Rather than BMW influencing Japan, Japan has obviously influenced BMW's M division. And that triangular quad exhaust

I like the wide fenders/wheel arches, their wheels, center console bit, and I'm sure performance isn't going to disappoint. HOWEVER, I do not like the front and back design, especially them large grilles and hood indents. I also am not a fan of their bucket seats, seems like they tried way too hard but ended up with ricer design. I just can't imagine how could someone spend $80k+ on an awful looking and terrible sounding car.

I guess the AMG trolls are not bad compared to that on the BMW Forum.

Anyways, i would like to see what the Batman Package looks like. These colors are too much bubble gum.

We all had a BMW at some point when we were younger. I just prefer the technology on AMGs, more intuitive and simple.

I have yet to see any f80 guy say "Oh man! I can't wait to get rid of my f80 for this!"

These things are ATROCIOUS and if this is the direction M is going you can expect used cars to at least hold their value better because nobody is touching these things. Sure people with money and have that need to have the newest thing will get it but these things are bad and you don't get much (if anything) more in terms of performance.

I think the M3 looks better than the M4. The G80 M3 is bold with its massive front fenders and rear quarter panel. It’s a love and hate thing regarding on the design but for sure it would still sell though. I would definitely get it in satin color if I ever get one.

I'd go M4 for the new generation. BMW M seems to be targeting this thing towards the millennial crowd based on that hilariously awkward Performance Parts ad, hope their marketing team did their research. Still should be a 10 second car in AWD trim with 93 pump gas tune.

After watching some videos, I have to see one in person. Bubble gum colors aside, the M3 seems to look odd, but the M4 kinda works. Not hating it as much as I thought. I like what they've done on the dynamics side. Adjustable traction control like the C63S for example and drift control. Just not a fan of a torque converter automatic. There's always the manual, but it sounds like competition and awd models only come with the automatic. Just not a fan of the ZF8 transmission. The former head of Audi Sport/Quattro Gmbh is heading up total vehicle development at BMW, and he's the guy pushing for torque converter automatics and AWD. BMW is turning into Audi. But with the prospect of AMG going 4-cylinder hybrid this might be direction to go. We'll see.

I am not hating it anymore as much as the first time I saw that huge front grille ...but I also don't love, I guess we will just get used to it and in real life it may not look as bad. But having the license plate smack in the middle on the front looks really awkward to me...like someone who designed the entire concept forgot there are states you need a front license plate and smack it on like a temporary tag. That's just awful to me. In general, I just don't feel it yet...like someone said here, feels overdesigned, lines don't flow, proportions are...lets just say awkward to me. This performance exhaust...uhm, not my cup of tea. I am sure it will perform well enough but I sure don't drool all over it to get my hands on one.

Agreed on the license plate! I never had a license plate on any of my cars. I wonder what's it like without the plate. I'd also like to visualize a one piece grille without the divider line.

As previous owner of 2015 F80 M3 and current owner of 2017 F82 M4 and 2020 C63s Coupe, I can say that new M3/M4 is quite disappointing visually.
I am pretty sure it will perform and handle great, but I can't get used to new bumper and hood lines.
Plus those M Performance parts look like they belong better on Hondas.

Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on in designer's heads these days in regards to the license plate. Front ends in a while I think haven't been designed with a license plate in mind. I mean even AMGs, you have to drill the bumper if you need/want a front license plate. Used to be that there is a place for the license plate, so affixing one didn't come with the feeling that you have to drill into the car or ruin the look. The Alfa Giulia is one of the worst at the moment I think. The front license plate has to be affixed to the side, which is a look I never like. Like the tow hook mounts. I think they look awful. It's all kinda puzzling, because pretty much across Europe the front license plate is mandatory.

I bet it will look pretty good in person. Not in any rush to sell the C63S, however.

That shouldn't come as a surprise. I'm not sure if folks are aware, but this car was primarily designed for the Chinese market. It's Europe's only growth market left. The European market is effectively dead for these cars, and the US market isn't growing enough. The big three are pandering to China to keep them alive and raise the funds to invest into electric cars. AMG is selling over three times as many cars to China as BMW M, so they are clearly aiming to grab a larger chunk of the market. We'll see if the design and strategy works out for them.

Bold and aggressive looking with lots of performance and styling options right from the factory. I like both, maybe the M3 more than the M4 right now..but yes good move BMW. I have know doubt that they will out perform our current cars, BMW would a fool if they don't. Mercedes will have to step it up or get out of the way. Competition is a benefit to all.
