Its been 14 months since my test drive with a C63 and since then, that car stole my heart {lol}. I am planing to buy one but i am afraid of maintenance costs since everybody is saying that these cars are realy expensive to maintain and if u ask about maintenance you dont afford it. I think if one has a dime of common common sense, should at least ask about maintenance. I come from a VW Passat 2002 which is a 2000 USD car that doesn't require ANYTHING even if i beat the #$@! out of it and I know that if i will bite the c63 bullet, there will be a higher maintenance costs but the question is how much higher? I am coming from a dirtbike background, a sport that is not cheap at all. The maintenance was around 800USD/month without depreciation, and i was really ok with it. I quit the sport because we started to ride harder and harder and a injury risk was higher. One month ago i bought a 335i GT 2014, the car is nice but for some reason I'm still here wondering if I should buy the AMG. How expensive is expensive, what are the costs?
For a 2017 C63 with warranty and 10-20k miles:
25k$ downpayment
600$ lease + Casco (full insurance)
125$/month Tax
Insurance 50$/ month
Im ok with all this costs but what about average maintenance? Im ok with a 1k usd yearly for tyres but other than that im not familiar with the costs and i'm not ok with pouring money in dealership's poket just because its a AMG.

This is an interesting thread. How about people post how much Thant paid for their service?
Eg. (Copy and Paste)

Also I'm curious about various parts that were changed and howmuch did it cost, like suspension components, windshield, mirrors, electonics....Related to maintenance costs and affordability, IMO if you buy an LUXURY car like S class, 7 class, a8, or other cars that you buy for the comfort/image and i agree you shouldn't stress out about costs since your main drive is luxury and comfort which implies that you dont want to "stress" about things like service, repairs, costs because that goes against comfort principle... But this car is a car that offers you an experience, its not about comfort or luxury its a brute force that in order to play with it requires some of your time(money). Now the owner should know how much time(time spent to produce $) should waste for a toy like this and see if it is a fair trade for that person since everyone values the time differently.

It depends on how much you drive it. I bought my 2017 a year ago. It just came off a 2 year lease and it had 17k miles on it. I had the 20k mile service done last year about a month after I bought it which cost me around $250 if I remember correctly. The 30k service is coming up (I have a little under 28k miles on it now) and I will need brakes too so I’m estimating this one will cost me a few grand. I replaced tires a couple months ago, they lasted about 10k miles. Four tires mounted and balanced with an alignment was $1500. When I bought it the car had just had four new tires fitted and it looked like the rear brakes were new.
I love the car but I decided not to use it as my daily driver due to the high maintenance costs. I would just rack up a lot of miles on it every year so I just drive it on the weekends and occasionally drive it in to the office. I plan to keep it for 4-5 years but if I DD it I would have close to 100k miles on it by then. So, I leased a Mazda CX-5 to commute in. It’s a nice little suv that averages about 25mpg, is cheap to operate and it is comfortable and quiet on the road. I already have almost 9k miles on the Mazda, that’s 9k I haven’t put on my C63, and I leased the Mazda right before the COVID lockdown.
I’m not stressing out about the cost though, I just don’t want to wear this car out as quickly as I wore out the E550 coupe I owned before this. I can afford both and I actually like driving the Mazda. Plus, I figure in maintenance and gas the Mazda almost pays for itself. An added benefit is that my Mercedes isn’t baking in the hot sun all day every day.

20K service (B1) at Mercedes Dealer, I was quoted $895. This service lists oil change and filter, brake fluid flush, replace cabin air filters (two) and change wiper blades. A local independent German repair shop with a good reputation quoted me $495, for the same without wiper blades, I change the under-hood cabin filter, they change the interior filter and I furnish the cabin filters ($65.)

I am at 25k miles, use it as daily and other than normal A and B maintenance, side and roof trim/panel replaced under warranty, 3rd set of tires (well, I drive daily and drive as I like it with camber from lowering) nothing else so far. Maybe too early in its live but its a low maintenance car in my mind and perfectly fine as daily. I sure spent a whole lot more on voluntary mods.
PS: Forgot, I did replace brake pads at about 15k. Mainly to switch to lower dust pads (switched to porterfield and I am happy) but when replacing I did find that the rear were due to change anyway. Porterfield front and rear is like $400 total or so. Install is about the same.

I don’t recall the 20k service being that much. Maybe it is more for the C63S?Originally Posted by mstraka

The maintenance isn't that often, but when the bigger ticket items hit it will cost you more. I put on a set of tires not long ago and all in it was about $1,550. Oil changes every 5k miles run $150 from an independent shop near me. I just had the rear differential and transmission fluid done for about $700. I am due for brakes (pads and rotors) all around and got a quote for over $2200. I ended up sourcing the parts from FCP Euro (they have lifetime warranty so I won't have to pay for the next brake job aside from shipping the old stuff back) and am upgrading the front rotors to a two-piece floating rotor and using OEM pads all around, and OEM rear rotors. I am going to install everything myself so my total cost is about $1,900. This all hit within a month of the new tires, so that kinda sucked, but after its done I should be good for a while.
I am more interested in how you expect to insure the car for $50 a month. I pay $250/month for full coverage.

I agree with the fact that milage/year is an important factor. Currently I am putting around 7k miles/year but since my dental office is 2 miles away from my home, most of those miles are made after I finish at the office and go out for a 30min drive and weekend runs. So far everything seems good... with some luck next year I will post in the picture topic. I am set on a 63S pre FL due to louder exhaust compared with FL. Haha.. my hopes went up. I even looked for a used engine (worst case scenario) and the price is around 13, 14k

(tobeit ) Did the dealer do your B1 maintenance? If so what was the cost?

Well here the insurance is very cheap, 40, 50$ tops/month that will not cover my car in case of an accident. In order to cover my car, I will have to pay around 250$/month. And I will do it for the peace of my mind. The bad part are the taxes that are calculated depending on the engine size. For example an E200 2020, will pay mandatory insurance 30-40usd/month, and gov taxes 40 usd because it has a 2000cc engine. Everything over 2000cc, the taxes will skyrocket. For c63, i will pay 125USD and for a Camaro i should pay 250 usd/month. Also in my country the minimum wage is 330usd, and avarage 700-800USDOriginally Posted by SJGetsome

You can have a reputable 3rd party do the service for much less .. and there are NO major service items done with A,B services, other then (air, cabin filters etc)Originally Posted by mstraka

and if you change your oil every 5K miles or so, and just keep records, thats all that matters. you can check the diff and trans fluids, and based on your driving etc, you can get
a expectation of when you should or need to have them looked at or changed. (and have that done)
The dealership prices are always higher, and part of the A,B they charge you for , is wipers, filters, fluids, etc etc etc..
Out of the 4 AMGs in my garage, I only take them to the dealership for warranty items.. period..
My G63 I had to take to the dealer for a service, as my guy was out of town, and dont trust just any shop.

This obviously depends on your country, how much you drive and how much extra maintenance outside of the scheduled maintenance that you'll perform. I decided to get the pre-paid maintenance for my 2019. It's something like $2500, which covers all scheduled maintenance for the first 40k miles or 4 years, whichever comes first. So that gives you a bit of an idea. In comparison the same kind of maintenance package for my previous Audi RS5 was like $900. For things breaking that are not my fault, I have my 4 year warranty, so that should cover most repairs for a while. So far I'm just shy of 17k miles and 1.5 years in and I have paid for an alignment $250, a new set of PS4S tires ~$1300 (I expect this to be about an annual thing), repair a bent front wheel $200 (tire was also damaged, but was covered by road hazard), and a new windshield $1400 (This is gonna be insurance mostly with a $100 deductible. I have all the driver assistance features, so this included recalibrating the cameras). Eventually, I'll need brakes, so that depends on whether I'll replace the rotors or not, or just get pads. Eventually probably need rotors as well, and I'm likely to go with aftermarket full floating rotors at that point. I expect a complete brake job to run somewhere around $2000 in case of new rotors, and around $700 if I just replace the pads.
Well I rang Mercedes Sydney and they recon a 1st service will cost $550 Australian... For a C63S AMG

Edmunds has a feature which called True Cost to Own (TCO) where is estimates the total cost to own a vehicle for the first five years of ownership. It includes an estimate for maintenance.

Routine service Ive been paying $260 for Service A and $540 for Service B at the dealership here in North Carolina. Its actually quite reasonable especially for such a high performance car. My old Audi S5 was atleast $900 everytime at the dealership. Originally Posted by Ravager2k
