Test drove a C63s today. My mind is made up BUT????

I went for a nice test drive today with the top down and my mind is made up. I really liked the car. It was fast, somewhat nibble, sounded good but not overpowering (which is what I want), and all in all, it was a very car and enjoyable to drive. This car covers the gamut of a casual Sunday drive to an aggressive sports car.
The only negative I saw (or didn't see) was the fading display of the GPS screen in the sun with the top down. If anyone else experiences this, is there any remedy?
Other than that, I'm getting pricing tomorrow and will place an order! Thank you to all the forum members who have been very helpful during this process!!!

I've never driven the cab, but FWIW, there's an ambient light sensor in the bottom part of the bezel to automatically adjust the brightness of the display based on ambient light. This can be turned on/off in the settings, so maybe it was turned off. If you don't use the automatic brightness feature then you can manually adjust the brightness of the display independent of the brightness of the rest of the instrument cluster. I've had the sun shine on my display before in my coupe for example with the panoramic roof open, and I noticed that it adjusted the brightness so I could still read it. Less of an issue with a covered roof, though, obviously, but I do keep the panoramic roof shade retracted at pretty much all times and I never have issues with not being able to read the displays if the sun shines straight in. There's one feature that could potentially pose a problem. The display has an automatic temperature-controlled switch-off feature, so if the display gets hot from the sun for example it initially automatically reduces the brightness to try to cool it down, but if that's not enough it will switch off completely for a while. Also, I'm assuming you didn't wear polarized sunglasses and tilted your head, because that will make it difficult to read as well. Although, polarized sunglasses are not an issue as long as you look straight at the display. I wear them all the time, but I can't read the displays of the AMG Drive Unit if the steering wheel is turned close to 90 degrees for example.

FWIW, I have a cab (just finished the 1,000 mile break-in) and haven't yet noticed any situation where I found the screen hard to read. I'll bet a setting needs to be adjusted on the car you drove.

Also FWIW, you've made a great decision to go with the cab. As you've seen, it's a glorious experience driving a C63s with the roof off.

Tan interiors look great on the C63, I'm surprised more weren't specced with it.

Your car looks great! Is the blacked out trim on your car that's around the window frame and the wide strip of trim wrapping around the rear deck of your car where the body meets the roof, part of the AMG night package, or did you have that done yourself. Some members say it is part of the package but on the MB website configurator, it doesn't show that. Thanks!

It a wrap. I have never seen a C63s convertible with blackout trims option like on the coupe.

It looks great! Do you have any pictures of your car with the windows and roof up? Thanks!

I drive around with the top down all the time but I haven’t ever noticed any problem seeing the center screen. I typically have it on satellite radio though and rarely use the NAV system.

By the way, I would recommend driving it with the top up to see if there are any noises or issues, especially if you’re buying a pre-owned C63. I had a dash rattle in mine that I really didn’t notice with the top down. Took a while and a couple visits to the dealership to sort that out.

I did hear a little rattles around the Info display screen when the top was up. Probably some chicken bones from a factory worker. Do't buy a car that was assembled on Monday, Friday or too close to the lunch hour.....

Totally agree that a tan interior looks great on the convertible. This wasn’t even an option in the UK on the 2020 model, hence why I just had a custom made interior. It’s my first mod and it’s 100% worth doing...
