Four-Cylinder Mercedes-AMG C63 Details Emerge: 4,400 LBS, AWD, 550 HP

Here ya go

at 4,400 that is a PHAT one....

https://www.motor1.com/news/490844/m...3-specs-rumor/
The flip side will be more power (quelle surprise) as the combined output is estimated to reach 550 hp (410 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm). For the sake of comparison, the current C63 S has to make do with 47 fewer horses and has a peak torque lower by 74 lb-ft (100 Nm). The report doesn’t go into details about the battery, but it’ll apparently be good for 40 miles (64 kilometers) of electric range in a best-case scenario.

Another benefit would be represented by an ideal 50:50 weight distribution after reducing the load on the front axle by installing a four-cylinder engine about 132 lbs (60 kg) lighter than the old 4.0-liter V8. The hybrid powertrain will turn the next C63 into an AWD performance car while still retaining the tail-happy nature courtesy of a standard drift mode, according to Car Magazine.

So its getting the eTurbo *zero lag
hmmmm thats gonna be fun!!

"
It’s also going to be about three and a half times more fuel-efficient, but certainly not when doing the 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in the claimed 3.5 seconds or 0.6s quicker than the outgoing C63 S.

The neck-snapping acceleration will be available not just by adding power, but also by using an
e-turbo to virtually eliminate the dreaded turbo lag. "

I wonder if the acceleration rate will be as impressive above 60 mph and into the triple digits. The mph on the times I have seen for Teslas in the 1/4 mile seem a little low for the ET they run. Seems like they are animals out of the box (60' times are really low) but the rate of acceleration drops off significantly as speeds climb.

Just scanned the article, but looks like nothing new. As said already before, even though, some didn't believe it, it's gonna be a 4400 lbs car. The extra power is just there to move all this extra weight. Has about the same power to weight ratio as the 205 if you do the math. Actually, the 205 is even slightly better. The faster 0-60 all comes down to AWD. It'll just get out of the hole faster thanks to the AWD traction.

Yes, top end is usually a problem with electric motors. They have instant torque, but at high rpm, their power drops off quickly. EVs are not geared for top speed, other than the Taycan and the Audi e-tron GT with their 2-speed gearbox in the rear. The C63 motor has only a single gear. It bypasses the transmission, so yeah, I'd expect it to fall somewhat flat at the top end. Like the EV manufacturers, they think 0-60 is all people care about. Such a one-dimensional thinking.

2.0 liter 4 cylinder turbo + 4400 lbs = does not compute. I bet it'll eclipse that 4400 lb curb weight when auto mags do instrumented tests and independently weigh it when it's spec'd out.

Very impressed to hear that the M139 4 cylinder is a whole 132 lbs lighter than the M177 V8. Cause man, I don't know what I'd do if they introduced the next gen W206 C63e that weighed 4530 lbs with that nasty, old fuel-hungry V8 in it. So yea, let's lop off 4 cylinders, throw a middle finger up at your base, and let's make it a 4 banger that weighs 4400 lbs - then it'll handle like a DREAM cause 50/50 weight distribution yo! But wait, there's more: you can go pure electric too for a couple miles and no one will hear a thing! I know that's what I wanted from the C63 originally.

Jeremy Clarkson said of the original C63 AMG: "This is just an axe murderer with headlights, and I absolutely adore it!". This W206 C63 is certainly not.

How tunable is it going to be? I'm guessing the tuners have a lot more work for them between tuning the petrol motor, tuning the electric motor, and the electronics that links them. Scary stuff for people that like to or need to mod.

From what I can see, most tuners don't want to even go near these hybrid powertrains. That said, I know JB4 tuned the new NSX so anything is possible.
